The issue here is not whether it is legal for the private segregated proms to occur, since they are most certainly legal. It is whether it is moral to support segregated proms. The legal and the moral do not always coincide.

However it is perfectly acceptable to have an organization which taxpayer funded workers assist limit it's membership to blacks only. Not an eyebrow raised about the Congressional Black caucus.

We all know if it was a white only club, and a black got turned down for skin color only, the justice department would be already involved, and the media would be non-stop.

I personally wish they would make everyting equal across the board, but it's never going to happen. You know why?

Because people in general will always discriminate agaisnt someone who isn't like them. Now your personal preference is yours alone, but if you want to get rid of all the above mentioned programs, here's what needs to happen first:

People with ethnic names like Jamal or Brianna who have degrees and qualifications should get the same looks as Paul or Jane.

When teens commit murders, they're murderers, not thugs(black) and misguided teens(white)

When shootings happen in the urban areas, they make the news, not after someone shoots up a white neighborhood

When a teenager who smokes weed, walks home and gets killed because someone decided to follow him even though he was doing nothing wrong, get the same legal treatment if the races were reversed

I hate to break it to you, but the way to change peoples minds isn't by giving them special treatment because of their race. That just breeds more racism by people who probably weren't racist in the first place.

We would like to start by saying THANK YOU!!!!! Thank you to each and everyone of you all over the world for your outpouring of LOVE, SUPPORT, COMMITMENT, DONATIONS AND CONTRIBUTIONS. We would also like to give a very special thank you to MS. HARRIET HOLLIS of the SOUTHWEST GA PROJECT for RACIAL HEALING, of Albany, Ga.. Without them, we never would have gotten to you. Through your generosity, we are happy and overjoyed to say that we have met our goal for our Prom. If you would like to continue donating, the monies will be used for scholarships for the students who have worked tirelessly for this Prom since its inception, as well as, for the future generation of leaders.

The world is saying that we are such an inspiration but to us you are the REAL INSPIRATION. You have confirmed our belief in the human spirit and that LOVE is a universal language, because GOD is love. We believe that, that LOVE is why you reached out to us with open hearts. So we say THANK YOU again from the bottom of our hearts.

Please stay tuned for the upcoming pictures and videos from the "little event", that is now an amazing Prom. :-). We love you and appreciate all that you have done and are doing. May God continue to bless each and every one of you.

Then stop treating people like they are a lower class of citizen than you are. I'm not talking to you, I'm talking about the folks that swear it's all on black and brown people to succeed in life, but are the first ones to close the door in their faces when we start coming into their spaces. AA was created not to give anyone race an advantage, but to level the playing field. It also helped with women as well, but folks seem to only focus on blacks and hispanics. If you see a woman doctor, do you think she earned that job, or did she receive special treatment?

A known fact that an altercation happened? Well, one person is dead and the other got knocked around. So I'd say it's known that an altercation happened.

A known fact that it wouldn't have happened if GZ hadn't followed him? The 911 call indicates that to be true. He thought he was suspicious, so he followed him and eventually an altercation happened.

When you say things like "liberal logic" it automatically devalues your argument. FYI. If you want to generalize people into one group of thinking just because you disagree with them, feel free, but realize that it makes you look small minded. I do not believe all Republicans think the same. It's a shame you're under the impression that all liberals think alike AND you feel the need to mention it in nearly every post when you think you have a valid argument.

Your argument would hold much more weight if you could stop the judging and just get on to your point.

You stated that TM attacked GZ. That's pure speculation. I said an altercation happened. That's not speculation. I also said it wouldn't have happened had GZ not followed TM. GZ ADMITTED to following TM so I guess I'll take his word on the fact that he did. If you believe that TM would have attacked GZ if GZ hadn't followed him, then fine. Perhaps he would have. I've seen nothing to suggest that, though.

You're smarter than that, you can articulate your argument without throwing a little snide comment at the end of it. I know you're capable, you should give it a try.
