Baawwa of course I was joking, However thanks for sharing the wedding pics I really enjoyed that. Was that some of your family in the states in the pics. Did they go over for the wedding. The followed kind of the same format (The pics) as my wedding in Cebu.

Well, now she is 100% team Su, but before, let's just say I had to face the lions so to speak. My family is all Christians, my grandfather is a pastor and he wanted me to succeed him when he dies. So becoming a Muslim wasn't on the short list of favorite things for my mother. Plus, being my wife is Malaysian that was another issue for her, since she wanted me to stay within the color lines so to speak. I remember when she met her parents, the first thing out of her mouth was "so are you ok with your daughter marrying a black man?" But as you can tell, things went perfect, and now she treats Su like her own daughter. Even better than me!!!

First I ask everyones forgiveness for kinda sitting this one out... I have been kinda busy (tax time) and this thing was so fake on the face of it, I thoughts others would have slam-dunked it by now.

-First of all, this story gets rotated every year at Prom-time, we have even covered it here on VJ before.

-This year there is a new twist....., web sites and news print are not the only ones to profit from it, those clever students are now getting a piece of the pie in the form of free scholarship bucks (check the face-book page) https://www.facebook.com/IntegratedProm2013

- Since we told- "it is those lone sick hearted white kids" who don't want a mixed prom, we are left to assume the Black kids are-

a. Devastated by this separation.

b. Left with no idea how to throw their own great party...( i kinda doubt that).

c. The Black kids would love for the white kids to come to theirs and make it a mixed prom.... in fact they have the Taylor Swift music all cued up and ready.

-So inquiring minds want to know why those kids who want to have an integrated prom.... don't just go to the Black prom and get the ball rolling?

-If this tradition of kids holding separate proms are a universal desire of most students of most colors.... why singularly demonize the white students?

-If there are mixed couples (and there are bound to be) ... where do they go? are they not welcome at the Black prom?

If not, why not equal derision heaped on the Black students? If the Mixed couples are welcome at the black prom, then don't you then have a mixed prom already?

-Where do the Hispanic kids go?

Q: If the Black prom is more open and less "racist" why don't the Students who are trying to "make a difference" just go there and shazam! you now have an integrated prom..... an easy fix?

So for me this story has a two fold interest.

1. The oddity that students who go to school together are so strictly separate at this one event.

2. It appears both groups accept things as they are and yet it is the White Students and parents who shoulder all the blame.

and if I were to add a third angle....

3.Why does anyone care ? Holy smokes those who have the most heart-burn are the same crowd that admonishes us... "not to judge others"

and what about the new "golden Rule" let consenting adults do what ever they want.

Prom is a fraught project in Rochelle, perhaps the only town left in the South that has never offered its high school seniors a racially integrated option. WCHS stays out of the prom business altogether, letting parents organize events for their kids. And they do—separately.

There will still be two proms this year. Neither proms are financed by or allowed to take place at Wilcox County High School. The students said that when they pushed for one prom, the school offered a resolution to permit an integrated prom that would allow all students to attend but not stop segregated proms.

There are (2) proms every year. The white kids are kept out of the black prom and the black kids are kept out of the white prom.

Both sides and both sets of parents sppear to be equally at fault.

WCHS is much like any other high school, where the homecoming king and queen are chosen by popular vote (and are allowed to have their picture made together, despite published reports to the contrary!). Most discipline problems relate to tardies and matters of the heart, and students see skin color through their parents’ eyes.

Recently the high school has received some negative publicity for hosting segregated proms, but that is simply not true. The high school does not host a prom at all, and groups of students who host private parties have referred to the parties as their proms. The school sytem has no influence over private parties, but we are encouraged by recent events.

Earlier in this school year, a group of ladies approached the Wilcox County Board of Education and the Superintendent to discuss their plans for hosting an “integrated prom.” The Board and Superintendent not only applauded the idea, but passed a resolution requesting that all activities involving WCS students be inclusive and non-discriminatory.

We support the efforts of these ladies, and we praise their efforts to bring our students together.

I am pleased to report that WCHS Principal Chad Davis has stated that his Leadership Team will place the 2014 Prom on its agenda for its next meeting.

So why doesn't one group attend the other's prom if only one prom excludes one group?

The actual song is colbie caillat, but if I remember correctly, my brother in law couldn't use the songs in the video due to copyright infringement. The video was pulled after a day, so he had to look for covers. I'll ask my wife when she gets home.

Doesn't look like a Muslim ceremony to me. You satisfactorily proved the other half. Just proves your MIL and FAL are Muslim.
