Is the babies father the USC. He will have to file an I130 for the baby and ask for it to be expidited to catch up with your application so you can travel with the baby. now if you complete the process and have the interview and get the Visa and can travel before the baby is born I am not sure how that works. But after the baby is born I know that USC has to petition file another I130 and pay the fees again for the baby. There may be DNA tests required to prove that USC is the father not sure about that either. Have you got case complete at NVC yet? When is your baby due?

If the baby is born in the US, he/she will automatically become a US citizen.

If the father is a USC he will file a report of birth abroad and the child will travel to the US as a US citizen no need for an I130. However that will increase your family size for the affidavit of supoprt, plan for this. Your mother would need a visitors visa to travel to the US. She would apply for it on her own , they don't give visas to help with children. It is unlikely she will get a visa as she has to prove that she has strong ties to Nigeria. She is not allowed to work on a visitors visa ( caring for a chld is work )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Not if she is given a roof or food. Any compensation in any manner makes it work. Honestly the rules on volunteering are very strict in the USA. It's a wonder anyone volunteers at all to be honest.

Well, I wouldn't call it volunteering, but rather spending time with her grandchild...

pls what can i do,my case just got approved at uscis,we are at nvc process now,am expected a baby soon, can i include my baby in my interview when am giving a date, can i also travel with my mum together to help me out,pls help where do i start from

1. have the USCitizen, Petitioner, learn all about NVC Doc Intake in a NVC Monthly Thread.

2. File for Consular Report of Birth Abroad for the child, if the USCitizen meets the requirements.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No I-130 is needed since husband is a USC (he is right? or is he a LPR or naturalized citizen) well either way you need a CRBA when baby is born.

In the meantime get mom to start on her Visitor Visa. I know many grandma's lately getting Visitor Visas from Nigeria (I know of 4 lately here now) so its always worth a try. Congratulations.

And just FYI here is the NVC filers thread to read up on all you need to do there read post #1 and #2

It's easiest just to say she's visiting, not taking care of anyone or anything. Because that's what she is doing, visiting her grandchild. :)
