Well, if you just got the visa today, then yes, this fee should apply to you. Here's a link with info about the fee, and where to pay.

can my husband is eligible for payment of fee,And what is alien number? i don't have alien number because i am still in my home country what should i fill in payment form instead of alien number

Your alien number should be on the visa in your passport. Your husband can pay it, but he needs your information to do so.

*bangs head on desk* How many more fees are they going to introduce? Love doesn't come cheap does it? :bonk:

A lot of people don't know this, but the USCIS is self-funded by the fees we pay. The argument is that the beneficiaries of their work are non-US citizens, so why make the US taxpayers bear the entire burden? It can also be argued that a healthy immigration system benefits the country, but it's an easy financial target. Reflect that some fees have actually gone down in the last few years as processing costs decrease and automation/computing is used more. Really it's about the same now, including the new fee, as it's been for a long time.

One of my friends was shocked at the cost. She thought that since it was "a government service", it should be free. Yeah, I had to ask her to stop and check what country we're in. lol

I just paid my wife's fee with my credit card. You can do it online with your bank account information or a credit card. You need two numbers. Your NVC case number and your alien id number. It starts with an "A".

Can anyone confirm what happens after they've paid this fee. Have they been notified that it's been received and processed?

I paid for my wife and on the first page it asked for last and first name A number and case number. I used my name because I was the one paying. Hope that was correct? I haven't received an email or any other notification that payment has been accepted.

You would enter your name as the account holder name. Is that what you mean? My name is on mine and both of my sons because I used my credit card.

If you entered your Case Number and A number correctly you will receive a proper receipt on a form I-797 (same as NOAs you received along the way) by mail. I paid our fees on March 12th and the receipts were generated on March 20th. Once you have that receipt number you can login on the USCIS site and watch the progress. Mine updated each time a change occurred and once the green cards were actually mailed they even posted an update including the USPS tracking number. That way I knew exactly when they would arrive.

This part is a little stressful because you pay and wait to be acknowledged that they have received it and applied it to the correct case etc but it will go quickly. Be patient, I know it is hard.
