Why don't we just attack North Korea first?

Yeah I edited my previous post when I dug a little deeper about who the author is.

There is usually plenty of material to present a case why a conflict should never have happened, by presenting a solution to the underlying pressures that lead to the conflict. I was a long time student of the Vietnam Conflict, even debated the issues while in college. However, once the shooting starts, events gain a momentum that was lacking previously and are hard to prevent from happening. The key to the Vietnam war, would have been to honor the promises made to a young communist that helped the US effort against the Japanese on the Asian mainland, rather than letting the French reclaim their colony and put the former puppet emperor back in power.

I am not war mongering, or being provocative -but seriously asking what is the rational behind why we don't attack North Korea? We're barely taking Kim Jong-Un seriously, and I can understand that, he's CRAZY! But now, "Un" has basically said they are "authorized" to launch a nuclear attack the U.S. I know "they say" its unlikely they really have the capacity to nuke the mainland U.S., but what if they do? What if he's not bluffing? Why are we just waiting to see? We've taken out other equally oppressive, supposedly nuke bearing dictators...but with Kim Jong-Un, we KNOW he has nukes. So why are we just doing nothing? Is it because they don't have oil, or other resources we need so we have nothing to gain? Is it because the nuclear fallout would affect South Korea or other allies? It can't be to protect the North Korean civilians, because under Un's power, they are starving to death, put in horrifying work/death camps, and being totally brainwashed...and Heaven only knows what else. So....what's the deal? Is it because we don't wanna ruffle China's feathers? Or is it because the government actually DOES know that North Korea for sure does not have the nukes they claim? If so, why don't they just come out and tell us? I realize human life is in the balance and that always makes things tricky...but isn't it possible that we are playing a deadly game with American lives too by waiting...??? So why don't we attack first?

I am in the process of trying to move to the Philippines. Could you guys please try not to start a war in that area please.

I am impressed. So few people know that one of Uncle Ho's very first allies was the USA and the OSS. Vietnam was about colonialism and reuniting the country . Nothing more nothing less.

Just stay aware from any areas the Filipinos are trying to reclaim from China or Japan, or vice-versa. Of course, the Philippines itself is one stupid comment away from a military coup or popular uprising or civil war, so I don't think anything that happens in Korea should really matter.

Also I don't trust any foreign policy "think tank" with .ca internet suffix. What do they know about foreign policy? They have one unprotected border with their closest ally.

When you - an adult armed to your teeth - are approached by a little confused 10 year old that raises his bare fists and yells "I'mma ** you up!", would you think that the proper response is to pull out your guns and shoot that little boy? Or are you going to put him into a time-out? The latter, right? Well, that's what we're effectively doing and it's the right response for obvious reasons.

According to many here, yes. And not in North Korea, but here. Shooting 10 year olds is ok in certain cases.

Well, it would appear that we've got our own Kim equivalents - a.k.a. batshit crazies - here in the good ole' US of A. I know some of them even frequent VJ.

Those are the ones I was making reference to. You know, a black kid turns around in your driveway so he deserves to be killed.

The article outlining the plight of the poor bullied North Korea was just laughable! But attacking NK would be silly and likely painful especially for South Korea.
