Is this normal (or do I have a problem)?

Submitted the whole AOS packet late last July to Chicago lockbox; packet was initially rejected for missing signature. Corrected and re-submitted, we received our I-797C. The applications (EAD, AP, AOS) were accepted and Olena went down to the local USCIS (Oxnard) for biometrics and was signed off for biometrics and tenprints on August 23, 2012. She received her EAD card and AP sheets a few weeks later, and has used AP twice for a couple of visits home to Kiev.

We were told that the process for AOS could be a few months to "many months", but I am noticing quite a few people have received their AOS in the past couple months who came into the system well after we did.

Furthermore, when checking status at the USCIS website our I-485 still shows up in the lowly "accepted" circle; it apparently hasn't advanced to initial review.

I have submitted an e-request (a few days ago) and am now to wait another month before I call, according to the instructions on the USCIS website.

We aren't in a huge rush, Olena has 4 months remaining on her initial AP forms. But I am becoming concerned over the apparent lack of activity.

Is there anything I should be doing now to move it along?

Thank you!

Rich and Olena

No, it's all "normal". It's stuck to the "Acceptance" stage until there's an interview scheduled or an approval/denial.

Some cases are processed faster, because they are scheduled for an interview. When it takes a long time like yours, it means your case is chosen to be waived from an interview. Check this sub-forum, it's full of people in the same situation as yours: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/131-adjustment-of-status-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

There's no real way to know how long it's going to take... some have waited more than a year.

I don't know, I beg to differ. I have not came across (could be my fault for not reading this site every minute) that it took that long for someone who got their EAD/AP already, done with biometrics. Maybe I'm the one who is just over paranoid, but I would give a call to USCIS and inquire over the phone. Just pretend, you forgot your password at the website, so you can no longer view the online thing in case their immediate response is "go check your status online". I would check after this, it seems waaay too long. I applied later than you, at the first week of September, and by the second week of December I had my green card already. For the safety, I recommend you to call them. Maybe you'll have luck and they actually realize they sort of "forgot" about your whole application. Good luck!

People are just waiting and there's not much more you can do... but wait.... it will get processed, but it is a lot slower than it used to be.... 8,9,10,11 months or more....

It seems that there are two paths at the moment to the GC, one that doesn't require an interview, but that can take many many months. People are waiting 8 and 9 months. Our experience was the opposite, filed Jan. 25, had biometrics on Feb. 28, and interview yesterday, April 3. So only about 10 weeks from start to finish. The stress of having an interview wasn't fun (although the interview itself was perfectly fine).

But yes, it sure seems they are very backlogged at the moment.
