Biometrics noticed received 3/30/13 for 4/18/13

Flying to Brazil 5/16/13

Hey guys,

Here's my self inflicting situation. Need your suggestions.

I moved at the end of March. I just noticed my wife's GC was expiring while I was attempting to book a trip to Brazil for mid May. Rushed to get all required docs for I-751. Submitted the next day (3/16).

Here's the kicker:

I put the NEW home address on the app as I assumed it would take at least 2 weeks before they would mail the NOA.

I just officially moved to the new place on Saturday(3/30). Once I realize how fast the NOAs are going out, I put a USPS Hold on all mail going to the new address with my wife's name effective 3/21 thru 3/28 for subsequent delivery while the previous tenant still lived there. I also contacted the new apt mgmt and the previous tenant who was going to keep an eye on the mail. As of 4/3/13, today, I confirmed previous tenant did not receive anything, I even spoke to the actual mail man for the route and he confirmed he was looking for and holding my mail but nothing was there really. I also called USPS designate location for apt and they stated they having nothing and gave a generic 15 biz days to fulfill all holds/rerouting. I hot the Biometric letter on Sat 3/30 for an appt 4/18. So either NOA is really late, or it's lost in the mail/rerouted/held/sentback etc.

Since I booked a trip to Brazil mid May(5/16) and also my wife's DL will expire end of May, we need the NOA or I-551 stamp. What should we do?

1) Wait another 2 weeks? Then start worrying

2) Call USCIS now? for options/submit a ticket/request resend of NOA if possible

3) Schedule an InfoPass now (for mid April) even though Infopass states you have to wait at least 45 days and go for I-551(looks like I can always cancel after the fact, I check availability and they only have 4/16 available 30 days out)

What do you guys think? Am I freaking out just a tad early? Should I do all of the above? What would you do?

Just called USCIS. Must have got a really nice rep. Was able to request a resend of an original NOA with ETA of April 18th. Got confirmation number for any additional follow up etc.

Didnt have to tell him the story at all. Just had to say, didnt get NOA but did receive Biometric request and that we are traveling soon. No questions asked and processed.

Also an interesting note, there is either a tracking or the actual EAC # behind your cashed check. In the beginning he thought I didnt have my EAC number so he asked me to check behind my check for a code.

If you are not traveling and with no expiring DL, then it might not matter and you can wait it out a bit more(ie 30 days) before calling in. Up to you.

****UPDATE****

Just received my replacement/reprint of NOA1. Called in on April 2nd requesting a reprint/resend, rep said delivery by April 18th. So it was right on time. Will now cancel my Infopass appointment I have for next week.

Quick question guys. Is the NOA1 just a one pager? 6 paragraphs with the first stating extension of one year. Is this all I need when I travel out of country?

Positive I wont need an I-551 stamp?

I'm all booked up for my Brazil trip in a month.

Let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Hi , i was reading your post and questions. I am also waiting for my ROC to be approved. I have not travel out of the country yet but i will in a month. The letter it is indeed just a one page letter. But that is NOT all you need to travel outside the USA.

You will obviously need your wife's passport, her expired Green Card plus this extension letter.

But you talk on your post about your wife's DL being expired not her green card. She wouldn't need a DL to travel outside the country!

I am sure you don't need the I-551 stamp if you have the extension letter. Let me know how it goes, oh and just curious, you do know that USC traveling with a US passport require a visa to enter Brazil right?

You will be fine. I was just wondering why you're talking about your wife's DL and not he Permanent Residence Card. She won't need her DL to travel out of the country!. Just her passport and Green Card so she can come back in the US.
