Based on the post from yesterday, speculations are all we have on who was affected. It looks like since CSC is stuck on July for 4 months, that July/August may be the affected files. Dang, but 48,000 that is a lot of petitions/applications. It might be from all categories, not just K-1.

It would have to be more than K1, there is probably around 14,000 K1's pending at CSC. Based on their data and recent performance.

NOA1 - 8/24/2012

NOA2 - 3/18/2013 Only took 207 days at CSC

The Tier 2 staff informed me that they are processing July 18 applications

Everyone just may as well keep contacting senators and anyone else so that eventually someone can tell USCIS to get busy.

Why would visa petitions be kept anywhere that they could be destroyed by water? It makes absolutely no sense to me. There is not one file in my office building that could be destroyed by water from a plumbing issue. Ridiculous.

NOA 1 November 15, 2010

NOA 2 August 25, 2011

Closed NVC Ocotber 11, 2011

Interview Date: January 12,2012

Thank you my wonderful God in Heaven.

I'm really hoping he will.

The Tier 2 staff seem to know as much about the process as we do. I said, what are my options? She said, wait for them to process your case. She tried to reason that they likely weren't damaged, and I said well the first rep said some were, so who do I listen to??

This is crazy! We are almost going on 8 months tomorrow! I am really considering just moving to my fiances country and marrying him and applying as a married couple. Does anyone know how long that process takes? If we keep going with the K1 who knows when he will get here!

1 Corinthians 13:4

Love has long patience, is kind; love is not emulous [of others]; love is

not insolent and rash, is not puffed up,

5 does not behave in an unseemly manner, does not seek what is its own,

is not quickly provoked, does not impute evil,

6 does not rejoice at iniquity but rejoices with the truth,

7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails;

that is truth :)

i at least hope they have a decency of contacting all the people affected or emailing them as soon as possible if it was those kinds of files that were damaged, instead of leaving us waiting with no idea of whats going on, and then months from now informing us that we have to start over because they have lost our papers. :bonk:

one would think the lockbox for all petitions would have scanned everything into gov/uscis computers before sending the the different centers then again as i recall the embassy's receive the petitions via email before receiving the hard copies

I wondered if the person who said files were destroyed wasn't suppose to let it out. Time for each of us to write to our Senators. But remember, old files are stored you know where, in basements, that means my 25 pound RFE from my first application with all the proof is gone. And we went to Italian embassy, and all over for our affivadits. What really worries me is the information is personal and has all our vital statitics. What is it is damaged, how can they guarantee us no one will see any of the papers? How can you shred water soacked documents?

So does the complete original petition always end up being sent to the overseas embassy?

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .
