Just yesterday I was in here posting about getting approved soon.

Today I got some (hopefully) good news! I wake up in the morning and there is this email from uscis:

** DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS E-MAIL ***

The last processing action taken on your case

Receipt Number: MSC**********

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On August 23, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we certified our approval of this case and sent it to the appropriate appellate body for review. They will notify you directly when they make a final decision. If you move while this case is pending, follow the instructions provided in the notice and use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

It still is on initial review but from what I gather from the case status it means they have sent it to some other office for review?

Is anyone familiar with this letter? Is it safe to assume the best, that I'm approved?

Hi,

Thanks for the link. It was very helpful. According to lawyers on this site, it seems my I130 has been sent for a secondary approval. It still has chances of getting denied. This is alarming, hoping for the best.

At least its somewhat comforting to know that! My wife had gone for two infopasses, and in the 1st one the I130 supervisor had taken down our receipt number and said something along the lines of "right now we're swamped but ill see that you get adjudicated next month" so we waited a month and a half and nothing, and had the 2nd infopass.

This time it was another iso, who wasn't as promising as the first guy. However the 1st guy (supervisor) had come in while my wife was talking to the other lady and they exchanged greetings. Not sure if he recognized her or not, but nothing was promised in the 2nd infopass. This was on August 20. 4 days later we get this email.

I highly suggest keeping track via phone and infopasses. For some reason, I believe, when they see an actual person, maybe they will realize that the heap of papers on the desk are worth so much to the petitioners/beneficiaries.

All the best Blueberry Pancakes.

Kale and Dalli- did you ever find out if it was an actual approval? I hope so! Congrats! My priority date is feb 5 and it is now 7 months. I have gotten both senators involved, been to 2 info pass appts, and will go to another one on Monday. And i have been told to keep waiting. My husband is here visiting on his visitors visa. I am wondering if he can attend the InfoPass appt with me. Maybe if they see faces of a husband and wife it will pull at their heart strings that we are still separated. Haha. I don't know I will try ANYTHING. Wishing luck to all who are waiting!

Hi kmg617,

Yes! I did get approved 3 days after my 2nd info pass! My wife had gone there and she came back a little disheartened, but she said that she saw the 1st infopass' I130 supervisor. It could have been that he saw her and realized he had promised something but forgotten and went ahead with it later.

The approval notification on USCIS was a a bit confusingly worded, but 5 days after that we got noa2 in the mail.

I hope everyone's approvals come through very soon. It really drives one nuts to just sit around doing nothing but waiting.

So, I went to my 3rd InfoPass appointment this morning. However, this time I had my husband with me as he was visiting me in the states for a couple weeks. I figured if they saw us together, maybe they would see that we are PEOPLE and not just a number in a line. The woman indicated that our file had been assigned to an officer in late August. She indicated that we are still within timelines (blah bah blah) since now their processing times are 9-12 months. So, we got "lucky" that ours is with an officer. She couldn't tell me when it would be approved, but I am hopeful. I have a feeling that contacting both senators helped, since I did that mid-late August. Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes from when it is assigned to an officer? Crossing my fingers that we get an approval this month.

My advice is to contact your senators! While I cannot prove that is why my file is currently being "looked at" because of them, the occurrence happened a week or two after my initial contact with my senators. I will keep you all updated from when I receive an answer (and hopefully not a RFE!)
