Any Washington DC field office I-130 transfers?

I had my InfoPass appt this morning. I was the first one in the door at 7:30am.

I was very disappointed with my appt, but I knew it could go either way. What I found out is that their processing times are 6 to 8 months for the I-130s and my file hasn't been touched yet.

So bummed sad.png

Are there any DC transfers out there that have been approved yet??

I also looked for approvals from DC office but didn't find any on VJ. I am waiting since 8 months for NOA2 and got to know at my infopass that my file hasn't been touched yet and they have no idea when it will be touched :(

Has anyone on VJ got approval for their I 130 after August 2012 from DC office? I am just curious to know if DC is even working on any of the I 130 petition?

Not that I would know everyone who has their files in DC Office, but mine is, and I always keep an eye out. So far 0. :(

Someone in one of the threads mentioned that he heard back from his senator saying the office was currently processing August.

I do hope they can make good progress soon.

I just had an e mail from the Senators office, not good news im afraid:

Following you will find the response from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to my inquiry on your behalf. I hope that the information provided will be helpful and responsive to your specific concerns.

USCIS officials write "Thank you for your May 21, 2013 inquiry on behalf of your constituent, regarding her pending Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. USCIS records show that Form I-130 was filed January 2013 and it remains pending at this time. Due to lack of resources, the current processing time for I-130s is 6 to 12 months. We will notify the constituent as soon as possible if any further information is needed, or when a decision has been made."

My staff and I stand ready to be of assistance to you in any other matter that is of concern to you. Thank you.

Thanks fcat. I'm so so so sad to hear this. I'm disappointed that our senators cannot do something about this absurd situation. Can we write a letter or get a petition going to send to multiple people? As much as I want my NOA2, I know there are many people waiting in line before me. I just want them to START processing the I-130s. We are paying too much money and waiting too long when we only want to do this the LEGAL way. I am so disappointed :(

I just want to know that progress has been made and it looks as if they are keeping the I-130s in a stack in the back of the office never to be touched.

I doubt if anyone would be able to help us in this situation. fcat has got this letter from senators and the letter states that the delay is due to lack of resources, NOA2 is getting delayed. I think they should employ few of us to help them clear their workload.

Oh God.... I knew DC Office takes a long time, but didn't think that would be 12 months... I cried my eyes out today :(

My husband and I were just married last week and we will be filing our petition as soon as we get our marriage certificate. DC will be our field office. Dammit :(

This is so frustrating! Can't anything be done? Looks like they should stop transferring I-130s to DC! And it's getting more and more swamped day by day.

I can't believe it :((((((((((((

Get your USC to move to a state where the petitions are not taking as long is my only suggestion, not very practical i know.

Hah, next closest local office would be Baltimore I think. Which is almost just as bad, if not worse.

Hello Everyone,

I need your help not sure what to do. I'll be moving back to Philadelphia and was wondering if I should change my address or keep it as is. My local office currently is Washington DC but I think my petition is still at the National Benefit center. I have heard it is not good to change address in the middle of the process. What do you think? I don't even know the estimated process time for the Philadelphia office....do you know where I can find it?

Thanks in Advance !

- Denied March 13, 2012

- Placed in AP March 14,2012

WASTED A YEAR FIGHTING THE DENIEL

MARRIED MARCH 15, 2013

1-130 Approved 3/3/2014 :-)

Finally made it home 3/18/2014

Oh my! we haven't filed yet (but will within next week or two) and my husband (USC) who now lives in DC Metro Area might be moving to Philly soon.

We were wondering, if it indeed happens, should we wait with filing until he moves?

Or file now and then update his address online?

Please advise smile.png

Thanks!

If it were me, i'd wait until you move to Phily, you can see the charts here for DC and Philly.

Philly have slightly less to process (about 1000) and look to be processing more (sometimes nearly double) per month than DC

Philly:

DC:

Well, looks like Philly office IS a better one be transferred to. However I've read it takes them quite a while to send the case to NVC after the approval. But still .. 10 -12 in DC is just painfully long :(

ALSO- I have been consulting with an immigration attorney AND she said that NOT ALL CASES TAKE THAT LONG in DC, and it generally takes 5 months if the case isn't "complicated", no RFE's needed etc. She told me she a had quite a few I-130 transferred to DC and they all took about 5 months...

She is a very good lawyer.

Thoughts?
