Aloha!

I live in Waikiki and Joan will face the same challenges finding work. I know a restaurant that hires frequently if that is an interest. Shoot me a private message if you want to talk about that. I've lived in the New York area (born and raised), Los Angeles, and now Honolulu for ten years. The cost of living is very comparable to those other places but the salaries are generally much lower--I am STILL making 13,000 dollars less than I made for a comparable job in LA and that is compared to my salary 10 years ago. YIKES! But I fell in love with Hawaii during 8 trips in 2 years before moving here! IF Hawaii grabs you then you will do fine, she doesn't than you might get "rock fever" and want to go home...for me Hawaii is home...I especially love Kaua'i!

Mahalo/Salamat!

Good question and I get your drift. Not sure if I will like it.. But Inwill be working alot and if we don't like it I can always leave. The wife said she likes the idea of the weather.. I have only been to the airport a few times so I don't know if I will like it..

Well, it's good that you seem to have flexibility in your work situation.

And to be fair, perhaps the metro Honolulu area is not so bad, but my experience on the Big Island is that all the drinking water must be plumbed with lead pipes.

Does she speak Ilocano? If she does than no problem getting a job. But still it depends on her job skills and education level. I live on Kauai, so I am not to sure about Oahu. It is about 800 to 1500 for rents here. If you don't mind living with other Filipinos, than it can be cheaper. It is just that things cost alot more here esp gas and electric. Also she may adapt easier to the Asian culture here than you, so that can be a concern as well.

Hi!

My fiance lives in Kauai too :)
