US citizen change of name before AOS application is submitted

Hi,

we're getting married with my fiancé (she is a US citizen) and we are still wondering if she should change her name or not.

Of course, we would love to have her taking my name, but we're not sure wether or not her passeport, drvier licence, SS number will remain valid under her previous name (her maiden name).

As we are submitting our AOS package pretty soon, I wonder if the copies of her current passeport and other documents will be accepted as she won't have the time to renew them with her new name.

Please, if anyone is in the same position, let us know.

She can use all her old IDs with her maiden name. They're still valid. I would consider changing her DL though. I submitted my new DL but my old passport when I did AOS.

Whether she should change her name should not be dependent on the inconvenience to go to the SSA office, get a new SS card, then go to the DMV and get a new driver's license, then go to the bank to get her accounts changed, then write letters to the insurance companies, credit card companies . . . so it really depends how much she hates her current name.

Her passport will still be valid and she could use it up.

The marriage cert is enough for USCIS to understand a name change. You can take your time changing your IDs. An ID in the married name is not a requirement.
