I feel really bad for all of the poo-pipe-bursting infected-casefile people.

I really, really do.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well someone posted this good news for you guys. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/422555-quick-response-from-ombudsman-csc/

I chose to email our form letter to the Ombudsman office and I sent a personal letter to the Director. I sent the email out Sunday and received a response this morning. I would like to copy the exact response here but there was a big warning at the bottom of the email response that said I need to get permission to forward the email.

Here is the content of the email:

The CSC processing time has slipped due to competeing agency priorities. CSC is currently shifting resources to address the I-129F. As resources are assigned the CSC expects the processing time for the I-129F to be reduced.

Guys,

Keep up the emails, keep up the letters, keep on writting your senators and congressmen. We are faced with a huge political battle and we are "David" in this battle.. Pressure,,Pressure,,Pressure is the only mechanism that will help us prevail. I beleive CSC is feeling that pressure now.

In reply to a couple of people on here about contacting my senators:

I originally contacted one of my Republican senators a month ago. I gave the immigration aide the information regarding the situation and my case. He said he was going to do an inquiry on my behalf. Still no update from him as of today, despite three calls/messages on his voicemail.

About two weeks ago I decided to write to my representative in the House, also a Republican, thinking that maybe I would have better luck. (That is whose aide told me the information today that I posted here regarding the so called "pipe issue.") Honestly, I was shocked by the way he spoke to me and how he seemed to not care, merely repeating whatever USCIS spouts out, and seemed to have not even read the concerns in my letter regarding misinformation about the "July 18" processing date, what appears to be happening at CSC, etc. Considering the Republicans in my conservative state are always upset about immigration issues, I thought they would jump at the chance to look into the possible effects caused by DACA, USCIS mismanagement, unreasonable delays for U.S. citizens, etc.

Today I spoke with the immigration aide in the office of my other (Republican) senator and gave her the authorization to look into my case and the information on what is going on in general at CSC. Maybe I'll have better luck with her. Who knows. :-/

Well if the files are damaged I should imagine there will be an official announcement in the near future BUT usually if a pipe bursts, water is shut off pretty rapidly. If that many files were damaged then the building would be soaked and I find it unlikely that workers would be back in after 2 short days. Building would have had to be checked for structural damage, dried out, cleaned....the list goes on. I guess we just have to wait and see what happens next.

Two things:

1. Understand that these aides are usually young student volunteers. I called my congressman and although the aide that I spoke to was very polite, I knew that the kid was just there to get school credits. My aide just checked what he called the "database" and gave me the same July 18 date. My guess is he went to the USCIS website and just gave me some BS about checking a special database.

2. For 48,000 files to get destroyed by water, there had to be a tsunami at the CSC.

So either the aide was BSing you, or the CSC was BSing the aide... either way, something really stinks.

I don't know if I believe this... but I just sent a letter to Ombudsman. All of you, if you can, send an e-mail! Even if there are 48,000 files damaged, if we put some pressure on them it might urge them to work a little faster! Ah. heart aching :(

I really, really hope this is someone's idea of a joke at CSC. Or maybe some customer service representative's new idea to get people to stop calling. Or maybe my congressional aide is a complete a**hole and made it up. I don't know. I really hope that it isn't true either.

Well we already know they are shifting resources. They sent something somewhere else sometime ago. I guess that means that SOMETIME in the future they will make an effort! What i do see is no mention whatsoever as to when they will attempt to get back on track.

Totally agree, keep up the pressure. We are a small percentage of their workload but we have a right to be treated fairly.

First, I'd write off to both of your Senators and skip the Congressman.. My understanding is that Senators hold a little more clout than a Congressman.. Not sure if this is the truth but possible. In any case you have other avenues so I would use them. AND hopefully they are Republicans because I'd expect to get them riled about the whole mess. I've always had good response from my Senators.. Congressman many times do not even reply to my letters.

Second, I wouldn't believe this unless you get a direct mailing from CSC. Unless the files are all stored in the basement on the floor I wouldn't see how it would be possible.. OR maybe the sewage problem was actually fire sprinkler system blowing a gasket. Again maybe I am wrong but surely.. CSC cannot be that inept.. OK what am I saying... :bonk: Sure they are!!! USCIS and CSC have proven this!!! My original petition and entire packet was returned to me, because I had the wrong I-129f (only difference was the USCIS document approval date on the I129f   everything else was EXACTLY the same... ). The pages had all been sent through, what I believe, was a scanner. Also a number and other information imprinted on the side of each page. Anyway, I would expect that everything is digitized. If not I would be completely surprised...... On the outside... I hope everyone made 2 or 3 backup sets of every form, page and piece of evidence.. I sure did..

A few months ago I called and spoke to a tier 1 CSR at the USCIS. She calmly advised that the USCIS considers every application when arriving to be in zero month.. You heard it! Zero month.. So I said to her that they needed to change their reporting to advise of this zero month.. She replied why.. because the process typically takes between month 5 and 6 to complete and to expect to hear in 5 to 6 months.. #######??? 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to me represents between 6 and 7 months.. Now I am not a mathematician by trade so again correct me if I am wrong.. So I asked this girl if I should call the IRS and tell them I only pay taxes for 11 months because I do not count zero...   She advised that she couldn't discuss any tax information and disconnected the call.. WOW!! :wow: is something broke at USCIS or what??

If the company I work for was this inept and freekin' incompetent.... we would have been out of business years and years ago...!!!!

Question: Should we not expect that the USCIS runs like a business? That there be some type of accountability to someone, somewhere? AND people are held responsible for actions when working for the USCIS? Obviously they don't.

My honey called the Congresswoman and they said they'd call the same day and get back to him. They called and called him back as they said! So it's not because you had this experience that it's the same for everyone!

Be careful not to take for granted everything that is said.

Maybe it is just an excuse? The pipe break happened a couple of weeks ago and no one has said anything about it causing that kind of damage until now. Based on the misinformation that USCIS seems to spread lately, I wouldn't be surprised if this was their latest attempt to try and explain their long delays on processing.

I would think that if 48,000 files were destroyed, word have been out before now, and it wouldn't be from a congressional aide who inquired on a case for someone in his district.

ANYONE ELSE HEARD SOMETHING LIKE THIS? Really interested in hearing if anyone else has been told this.

My honey's gonna call the third. Even if here it's already the third!

We'll see what they say.

So I requested help from my congressman a few weeks ago to inquire about my case. Today the aide called me with an update.

Apparently the USCIS congressional liason at CSC told him that 48,000 files were damaged when the pipe broke a couple of weeks ago. (Remember CSC was closed for two days for a plumbing problem??) They are saying that my case, July 26, was included in that pile. However, they haven't reviewed my file to see if it was damaged and if I will need to send in everything again or not. According to my congressman's aide, that is what is causing a delay now. When I asked if I needed to send a copy of my entire I-129f, he said no, wait until CSC gets to my case.

So I asked him, "Ok, that is the reason they are giving for the delay now What about before that? What was causing the delay before two weeks ago?" The aide got kind of huffy with me and said, "Well I'm sorry you don't like my answer but that is what CSC said." He didn't give me an answer.

He said that they are currently processing July 18. I told him that they have been quoting that for four months now, though they are clearly not on that date. I told him how I have been to many websites and monitored other people's cases, and there are a good chunk of people in August that have been approved. He said, "If you choose to believe that, that is fine. But I believe CSC." I said, "Ok, so thousands of individual people are all lying about their individual cases?" Again he said that he was choosing to believe CSC because he talked to the liason and blah blah blah. I asked if he knew when they expected to move passed the July 18 date. He said that was not a question he had asked.

Has anyone else heard anything like this? At first I was devastated to hear that my file was possibly destroyed and about the delay it would cause having to send everything in again. However, this is starting to sound like a BS excuse for CSC to buy some time considering they haven't made an official announcement.

I am waiting since July 23... We called and they asked to call after they renew the data in April 15, as now they are working with July 18... What is going on there...

So this means they keep papers and files in the toilets! This is crazy!
