Moved from K-1 progress reports to the Canada forum for Canada specific answers/chat.

There are tons of us who have done K-1 through Canada. Moved your post to the Canada forums.

compare time? sure ! click the flag under yer name, that'll drop you to the Canadien Portal.

Once there, click on 'K-1' in the left panel

Then can use the sort carats.

can't see any of this? come back on a PC, as the handphone instance of VJ misses about 80 percent functionality of the site.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Also, you should check out the guides (blue bar above) that will give you estimates of time and cost etc. Keep in mind that CSC is going very slow right now, but that could change in the coming months.

The K1 guide will show you what you need to get done from start to finish, including work authorization (part of adjustment of status after marriage).

Good luck in your VisaJourney!

Lots of Canadians on this site. Where in Canada are you? East coast or West Coast? Whatever coast you're on, those Canadians will give you the best advice. Granted, we're all filing out the same paperwork, K1, but times are different from coast to coast.

Where are you in this process?

Welcome! I see a few Canadians from the east coast have responded to you, terrific!

(I filed on the west coast, BC/Vancouver)

*In your profile, you can add the 'current' city & 'province' you are in. Great way for others to really see where you are*.

(As you move, you can change it of course)

You can read information on Montreal consulate reviews.

Click on the BLUE tab that says Reviews: Embassy/USCIS & POE.

Happy Journey!

(I love telling it like that, it's true & sounds more romantic than at a bar in Hawaii, which is also true...laughing.gif)

I'm from Ontario and moved to California on a K-1. I went through the Montreal consulate last year. I POE'd in September, got married in October, filed AOS paperwork in November, and had my work authorization in January and green card in February. Pretty smooth sailing, once I finally got here. Happy to answer any specific questions if you have some.

The K-1 Visa journey for myself and my two K-2 children:

K-1: NOA1 2011-8-10; NOA2 2012-1-12; Interview 2012-4-24; Visa issued 2012-9-17; POE (Sarnia) 2012-9-26; Wedding! 2012-10-02
AOS: NOA1 2012-11-20; Biometrics 2012-12-14; AP/EAD approved 2013-1-11; Interview 2013-1-31; 2-yr Green cards in hand 2013-2-9 (101 days total)

ROC: NOA1 11-7-14; Biometrics 12-1-14; 10-yr Green cards ordered 4-13-15! (157 days total)

Counting down to naturalization time!

It sounds a bit silly I guess when you try to explain to others how you met, but personnally I think that's pretty awesome :D
