As I look at these photos you posted, I'm reminded that Israel's oppression of Palestine was going on when these photos were taken and was going on even when South Africa ridded itself of oppression. Funny that in all of the world today, as our leaders in governments around the world talk of all of the wonderful advances we have made in the world and how we as a society have embraced womens rights, civil rights, gay rights as well as witnessing democracy in Egypt, the fall of the Berlin wall, the end of communism in Russia, that the Palestinian people still live under the illegal occupation by the state of Israel. As I've said before.. This madness needs to STOP!

I'm not so sure Egypt has created a democracy, but more likely traded a secular dictator for a theocratic dictator. Time will tell, but the signs haven't been to good so far.

Agreed.. I was typing as things came to mind. I just see what goes on in Israel and occupied Palestine, and I can't believe that the world body allows all of this to continue. I also can't believe that Israel continues the occupation without considering an alternate alternative. In our world today, NO people should be treated like Israel treats the Palestinian people.

When I see the Israeli with a beard that is spraying mace, his facial expression looks like he is enjoying what he is doing.

I watched the videos you posted, and this is exactly what bothers me the most. I see Israelis treating others as they were treated by Adolf Hitler. The horrifying images that I saw from Nazi Germany as a kid in school are exactly the same as what I see Israelis doing to Palestinians. This is how "God's chosen people" are supossed to act??

It's essentially the US that enables Israel to continue doing what it's doing to the Palestinians by handing fistfuls of money to Israel, providing it with weapons and other military assistance, providing political protection by vetoing just about every attempt in the UN to try to stop it, and by bribing rulers of neighboring countries to keep them from doing anything about it.

The problem is Israel's network of lobbyists in the US that bribe donate money to and even bully Congresspeople to pass pro-Israeli legislation and aid packages. Congresspeople who don't do their bidding often find themselves out of office come next election time, as lobbyists will pour money into their opponents' campaigns - AIPAC even keeps files of "dirt" uncovered on various politicians in case they need extra "leverage" to convince these worms to sell out. They throw a few million at our Congresspeople - and get billions of American taxpayer dollars in return for their "investment." Part of the money they use to bribe our Congress probably comes from the same welfare stack.

Why is AIPAC not required to register as a foreign lobby, since its entire mission is to lobby for a foreign country ? Look to corrupt Congresspeople for the answer.

There are certainly some sadists in the IDF, who enjoy the oppression of Palestinians. Many of them are also illegal settlers, or their ideological brethren.

Power corrupts. And absolute power (as Israel has over the Palestinians) corrupts absolutely.

What Zionism has attempted to do is to replace allegiance to the Jewish religion - with its traditional Jewish values of humanitarianism, equal rights and justice - with a Jewish nationalism based on total allegiance to the Zionist State, not matter what it does. That's why it plasters Jewish religious symbols on its flag and war machines - to keep people confused over the difference.

I think you have a highly idealistic view of the world. We let atrocities go on all over the world and don't lift a finger to do anything. The difference with Israel is they were are partner against communism and they got into bed with us on that. Much of American politics and aid is still geared towards fighting the communists that no longer exist. We've been switching that boogeyman to now be the Islamic Terrorists. Both have been very real concerns, but even more real on the political spectrum is the military industrial complex they support. If we stopped all this spending tomorrow the last recession would look like a cake walk.

Um... huh ? You exhort people to "do the math," and yet you can't do a simple arithmetic equation. Here, I will do it for you:

4,675 + 44 = 4719 Palestinians killed by Israelis. That equals "close to 5000" - and that was during just the 7.5 year period.

You're welcome.

You neglect to mention 1 in 10 Palestinians killed in that time period were killed by fellow Pals. Now that is some math!

4000 (almost 5000) < 4000000 [rounded down]

Ready, you are the one who made the initial claim that Israelis killed "4000+ Palestinians" (which was appallingly inaccurate.) You tried to juxtapose that number against "4 Million + Jews killed" in World War II, not-so-subtly implying that what Israel does to Palestinians isn't so horrible after all. I will quote you again:

Let's do the math:

4 Million + Jews killed in WW2

4000 + Palestinians killed by Israelis

No real comparison. Not that Israel gets a pass on their bad behavior.

Now you are trying to devolve the premise of your statement into something else entirely. Two can play that game. So - how many Israelis have been killed by other Israelis ? How many Jews have been killed by other Jews throughout the world, or even during World War II ?

I don't condone extra-judicial murders, no matter who does it. Gaza has more than its share of violence - that's what happens when you keep almost 2 million people trapped in an open-air prison, and shoot at them and drop bombs on them like they're fish in a barrel any time you want. But that was not the premise of your argument.

No my initial post was written to point out that comparing the Palestinian/Israeli situation to the Jewish WW2 experience by disingenuous use of Holocaust terms or Nazi actions, is hardly fair or comparable.

I will say again, I think Israel has done some pretty horrible things, made mistakes and continues to do so. But I think trying to post Palestinian propaganda deserves response, especially when it comes to trying to make comparisons to the Holocaust for cheap points.

Your knowledge is impressive and I appreciate your comments but there is more to the story than Palestinians are always victims and Israelis are always to blame.

I don't believe the Zionists or later the Israelis either planned or attempted to commit genocide against the Palestinians, and I have stated that on this board. They wanted to ethnically cleanse them - drive them out, so that they could seize their property and create a Jewish majority in the land that had been predominantly Arab for more than a thousand years, right up until the Nakba. It's still horrendous and evil. Even worse - it's still going on.

But there are indeed parallels between what the Zionist State has done and Nazi ideology - such as simply getting rid of people who were not of the desired ethnicity, or restricting them to small ghettos, or seizing their property, or passing statutes that "legalize" this behavior, etc. etc.

I have never said that there are no Israeli victims in this conflict. I have never said that there are no Palestinians who have committed crimes. There were also Jews who collaborated with the Nazis, even Jews who committed atrocities during World War II. There were also Nazis and Germans who were victims of atrocities during World War II. These facts do not change or mitigate the basic underlying crime - a crime that was state policy - that was perpetrated against European Jewry. Nor do they change the basic underlying crime - a crime that is also state policy - that was, and more significantly is still being perpetrated against the Palestinian people.

We can all find individual cases of people committing crimes. We are talking about criminal actions of a state, carried out as official policy.
