I have looked. I've only found member reviews. No information page.

I have requested the Consulate page be added, moments ago, via form'd email and a new post .

Will take a day or three, I'll post back here when it's done.

Usually, all of the stuff you're asking about is in the Consulate page, but a Consulate page doesn't exist for this Consulate. Over time, VJ members update each page, as/when they get new info.

Thanks for catching this, I hope it gets added in hours , but mostly likely 1 to 3 days.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

No, residency and citizenship are 2 different things!

I am no longer a Slovak resident but still a Slovak citizen.

At this point I'm still waiting for permanent residency here.

Before she leaves, she should not forget about some things.

Cancel her Slovak permanent residency, in her home town (tell her matrika - urad)

With this paper she needs to go the local police dept and give them her Slovak state id back. ( this 2 steps mean she officially canceled her permanent resindecy )

Then she needs to go to her health insurance provider with the copies from "matrika" and police dptm and they will cancel her Slovak health insurance.

I mean she doesn't not need to do this really but hey this is the best way!

In Slovakia you need to have a health insurance. If you don't pay for it you might get screwed up later in life when they find out.

One of the ways you don't need to pay is when you don't live there.

I'm sorry it's hard for me to explain in english. Let her know this info and if she has any questions I will gladly explain in Slovak

Your English is great. Thank you for taking the time to explain. I'm so glad she doesn't loose her citizenship to gain US citizenship. I would hate that, and I'm sure she would too. We already discussed her healthcare and her mother intends to continue paying for it "just in case". Is it still necessary to cancel her permanent residency if she will continue to have healthcare there ? If it is easier for you to explain in Slovak that is fine, I will just give her the info so she can read it. Again, thank you so much for your time and help, I have a few people on these forums to whom I am incredibly grateful, and you are certainly one of them !

No problem. I'm usually pretty thorough in my research before posting a question, but sometimes I feel like my question is unique or specific in a way that I wish to hear someone give a direct answer to my question. Thank you for putting in the request for the Slovak consulate. I will certainly contribute anything I know and anything I learn in the future.

Okay I was going through the same "dilemma"

Listen if her mother wants to pay that is fine, however it's like 40 euros a month? She wants to pay that for the rest of her life? It's fine if she does that for a few months (and then your fiancee cancels her perm residency), however I can't imagine my mom would pay it for years lol

But don't forget once her mom stops paying, your fiancée needs to cancel her residency from abroad.

You can't simply stop paying with no valid reason. I mean you can, but it will catch you later, in years and you will be screwed.

I can look for that law where it says that when you intend to live abroad for good you do need to cancel your residency.

I know people don't do it just because they don't want to or they don't know they should do so.

I don't wanna sound like a smartass but I have finished a law school and I like following the official rules haha

Also read all info at the Slovakian US Embassy site:

http://slovakia.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiance-visas-k1.html

For the medical all it says is "Please make an appointment by phone. Each applicant must bring his/her passport, two photos, any relevant medical history from his/her general practitioner, and a vaccination record to the appointment." No mention of needing the case number, so you can schedule without one.

Keep in mind that they want a medical not more than 6 months in advance, so don't get it too early.

If she does cancel her permanent residency right away, can her mother still continue to pay for her healthcare or will she loose healthcare when she cancels permanent residency ?

Let me give you my timeline:

I was leaving sept 28, on sept 24 i did go to all 3 offices and they cancelled my residency and dated it - sept 28.

So on 24th i paid health insurance for the rest of the days i was staying in my country, then from sept 28 til oct 6 i had a commercial travel insurance, from oct 7 (I got married oct 6) I was insured under my husbands health insurance.

Once you cancel your residency ( meaning you go to that office in your town and cancel it and then take your state id back to the police dept) you are not required to pay health insurance.

Otherwise you do need to pay it! No matter where you live. (When you work in the European union, that is a different story of course)

Plus make sure you fiancee does her taxes next year if she is working in 2013 in slovakia.

Ok, got it. We spoke about it today and her mother definitely wants to keep paying her health insurance. She knows to cancel her residency if her mother wants to stop paying, but from the looks of it her mother will keep paying forever, or until she dies...which ever comes first :D
