At least we're posting stories from this year now.

Unfortunately lostinblue seems to have misread the title and believes it says "Murders stop completely in America's deadliest city: Chicago"

Good news!

Sad isn't it? You make a positive post about how the community of Chicago has become more pro-active with their efforts to help lower the murder rates in their city, which it appears is true. And people in this forum are literally tripping over themselves to show that the killings still continue and will continue. Gotta wonder about the mindset of some folks.

Everything seems to indicate Chicago is getting a grip on murder and other violent crimes. It is indeed good news!

Regardless of whether or not the murder rates in Chicago skyrocket in the warmer months (and they will go up) ... you'd think that the implementation of these programs and beefing up the police presence on the streets would be treated as a good thing. They're attempting to fix part of their problem. Not make complete changes overnight. Chicago's in too big of a mess for that. But they're taking the steps in what I think is the right direction - providing opportunity and structure to kids who otherwise wouldn't have it.

And yet instead of focusing on that, there are a select few (the usual suspects) who are so focused on attempting to prove that these changes are useless and not worth the time or money spent on them.

It's almost as if they've given up and now kind of root FOR the violence to continue. Because all it does is "prove" their points about gun control, the black community, etc.

It's sad, but predictable. Terrible news out of Chicago is posted here so often, it's their go-to city when it comes to their arguments ... and finally some positive, encouraging numbers come out of it ... and instead, we're going to keep spamming the negative numbers and ignore any progress that's ATTEMPTING to be made.

Probably not. All the murder numbers got him too excited and he didn't make it.

I find it rather odd, that in a forum like this, of all places, we encounter entire cliques who revel on any little piece of bad news related to our country. With so much vitriol reserved for America, immigration should seem an unlikely pairing interest.

In the 70's it used to be New York. As of lately it is anywhere in California. Envy is a terrible thing.
