If you are at NVC and have completed everything except submitting the last documents how do you cancel the IR-1/CR-1 process. Is there forms that need to be filled out? Would you just cancel your Affidavit of support or withdraw the I-130 completely? Or do you have to do anything at all or will it just expire if there is no activity? And here is an off the wall question can one person keep it going if you dont cancel by continuing to contact NVC to tell them it is still in the works. For example the Beneficiary doesn't want it canceled but the petitioner does if the petitioner doesnt offically cancel it and trys to let it just run out can the beneficiary contact NVC and keep it open. I am just curious which option is better for lack of a better term. Thanks.

What is the last documents that were not submitted?

You can place the case on hold for 1 year by not doing anything

But if you already submitted the AOS I-864 packet then you should cancel it and withdraw you I-864 because he could send in his DS-230 without you and get his interview and the visa

If your AOS was not submitted and he has no access to it or a sponsor then you can ignore it for a year of inactivity-sometimes more

The safest way is to send a letter with return reciept that you no longer support the petition and wish to terminate it and your affidavit of support. That would prevent any shady or accidental further processing of the petition.
