My fiancee is trying to get her shots. She said she cried because one woman told her she didn't have enough time before her interview to be innoculated for hepatitus (spelled wrong) since it is a series of shots and you have to wait some time between each shot. I don't think there are any shots to worry about since I never read a post about it. Everything will be taken care of at the medical as far as shots go right? and she shouldn't bother with them now? How much money should I give her to take care of all shots she will need? Thanks.

My fiancee needed two injections that cost a total of $40 as I recall. She got them while she was having her medical two days before her interview.

I don't think something like that is cause for a denial, only maybe a delay. (And I don't even think it will delay visa issuance.) As long as she gets the shots, or is in the process of getting the shots, she should be fine.

Vaccinations are not required for the K1. She can do them before AOS in the US and most civil surgeons apparently fill out the form when the first hepatitis shot has been given without a problem.

I agree. I did a CR-1 but when I had my medical it was perfectly ok that I only had the first MMR shot even though my own doctor told me that I would require another shot to complete the immunisation.

She will need whatever shots are listed or required by her pre-interview medical. Is this vaccination listed in her packet or medical interview? My ex-wife had a series of shots listed in her packet she received while waiting for the K1 interview (several years ago), but it did not involve Hepatitis shots. I can't imagine a multiple-part series of shots, that requires weeks or months to complete, would be listed on a pre-interview medical?!?!?

She will need whatever shots are listed or required by her pre-interview medical. Is this vaccination listed in her packet or medical interview? My ex-wife had a series of shots listed in her packet she received while waiting for the K1 interview (several years ago), but it did not involve Hepatitis shots. Vaccination Requirements

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

I started taking my shots a couple of months ago and I still have one more of Hepatitis B to go. I went to my medical last week and it was absolutely no problem. I can take the last dose in the US. So I think she has nothing to worry about. I do think she should start taking them now though!

a lot of the vaccinations on the list are not needed.... what I mean is that they are based on age....

I know here in Canada you don't need the Hepatitis B shots unless you are 19 or under.... and the only other shots you need if you are between 18 and 64 or the MMR, a recent tetanus shot and varicella/chicken pox.... but maybe the requirements are different in other countries....

Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are now required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations:

-- mumps

-- measles

-- rubella

-- polio

-- tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

-- pertussis

-- influenzae type b (Hib)

-- hepatitis B

-- varicella

-- pneumococcal and

-- influenza.

Only a physician can determine which of the listed vaccinations are medically appropriate for you, given your age, medical history and current medical condition.

My kids require the hep B vaccine (IR-2 visas) and we were told by the doctors who do the medical, that they only require evidence that they have started the series of innoculations. They don't require to have completed them for the visa.

My kids have had one shot of it and the medical is on Monday. We will complete the course in time, but we expect to give them the third shot when they are already in the USA.

And yes, from everything I have read, for the K visas you are not required to have the vaccinations, although it is advised since they will be required for adjusting status later in the US.

I hope this helps calm some nerves. I know how it can be to be going full speed ahead and then suddenly feel like you've hit a brick wall. This whole journey seems to be full of ups and downs, like a rollercoster. It'll all be worth it in the end
