Anyone go for their medical in Frankfurt?

Hi,

So I contacted both the doctor's office and the USCIS in Frankfurt about this, but I have not got an answer. The secretary at the doctor's office said the doctor will need to tell my wife and the USCIS says I should contact the doctor.

I mainly want to know if the Tdap she got in 2011 is still valid. The physicians office told me she needs to get all her vaccinations before going for her medical because they don't give them there.

As far as I'm aware, the vaccines an adult is required have are: 2 doses of MMR in lifetime, Tdap within 10 years, Varicella and Influenza if it's flu season

My wife already had MMR 2 times in her life, had the Tdap in 2011, has already had chickenpox (will they take her word for it?), and it won't be flu season when she goes for her medical. So from that I conclude she needs no further vaccinations.

Are we good to go?

Thanks a lot!

Can she prove this?

If not they will run a panel and ask her to come back the next day to see the beautiful reaction on her arm . . .

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I went to the medical in Frankfurt. As for vaccinations, I had two MMR vaccinations in the past (1991, 1999) and a Tdap booster in 2007. No problems whatsoever. So I think your wife is good to go on that! The only thing I did was to get a varicella titer test, since I did have chickenpox as a child, but not in a very pronounced way. I think the Frankfurt consulate accepts your word if you tell them you have had varicella, but I just wanted to make sure. The titer test cost me about 26 Euros at my local doctor's office.

If your wife does not have the vaccinations that are required at the medical, her medical file will be put on hold/not be sent to the consulate until she has followed up on those vaccinations at her local doctor's office and faxed a copy of it to the Frankfurt physician's office.

Other than that, the Frankfurt physician's staff is really nice and very professional - no need to worry about it.

She has immunization booklet with her records in it, so yeah.

Oh great, thanks. It's good to know the physician's staff is nice. She had chickenpox when she was 18 and now she's 30. We're confident she's immune to it, but if they need a titer test (I doubt it), we'll get it afterwards. I was mainly wondering about the Tdap but you've reassured me it should be fine. Thanks! :)

You should be fine. Also, they do give vaccinations there if you ask, and if they have it available. You just pay for it on top. I got two vaccinations when I went for my medical exam (MMR and Td). Indeed, everybody is very friendly there, my examination together with tests and the wait time took about 2.5 hours.
