I have looked up for months now( on here and other sites and have called around to) all the recommended Civil Surgeons posted and they are charging ridiculous amounts or are pulling titers I feel are totally unecessary. Are there any recently that have found one that isn't a con artist? MOST of the posts are years ago and I would like to know what the recent trending rates are running for comparison? Thank you so much.

I paid $130 for one vaccine shot (Tdap)and completion of the form, but not after paying another civil surgeon $300, but left after he insisted that I had to do all the physical tests which I knew I was not supposed to do as I was a K-1 visa holder. If you are close to Virginia, may be you should go to Williamsburg to Dr. Virginia's office, she is knowledgeable......don't go to the guy also located at the same place.

Yeah, I ended up driving two hours. Had to pay for Varicella titer ($55) and paperwork transcription ($35). Geez, had to pay $25 for her time, too. So a total of $115. I had inquired about the titer to many places and apparently a history is not good enough anymore. And paperwork had been returned. Eh, whatever I am not sure what the big deal is. Anyways. That was my experience. Dr. Gonzalo Fernandez in Garner, NC. Very nice staff and very knowledgable.

it is still current in the Technical Instructions for Civil Surgeons http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/civil/vaccination-civil-technical-instructions.html#i693

•Completing the vaccination series.

  • If the applicant has completed the vaccination series, the "Completed Series" box for each vaccine must be checked on Form I-693.
  • If as a result of a laboratory test, the applicant is identified as fully immune, the month, date, and year of the test must be written in the "Completed Series" box for each applicable vaccine.
  • If a reliable written or oral history of varicella disease is given, "VH" (varicella history) must be written in the "Completed Series" box for varicella
