Nachodog, if you're still browsing this forum, I've got some questions for you that maybe you can help answer (or maybe anyone else who went through the same experience).

1) Did you sign up for the case updates on the USCIS website?

2) How long was it between your phone call and the time you received the service request update letter in the mail?

No, we didn't sign up for updates on the site. After speaking with the lvl.2 and him telling us our case was outside normal processing time, we received the letter I think 4-5 business days later. Soon after, I checked case status online and it was approved. I'll keep checking on here, it was a great resource for my wife and I - helped us out a lot. We had an extremely difficult case early on... if we made it, I really believe ANY legit couple will eventually be approved. Sorry it's taking so long for you, though - again, good luck.

Thank you for your response!

It's been 2 weeks today since I called USCIS. I signed up for email & SMS updates but there has been nothing - no email, no texts, no site update (still stuck at 8/8/2013 when I changed my address) and no mailed letter. I was told by the lvl 1 that it takes 15-30 days for the service center to go through the service request and I should be expecting a letter in the mail. I figure maybe Thanksgiving holiday would contribute to the slowness of the process - I haven't seen too many approvals lately.

I wish I know why it's taking so long. We got our RFE around the same time other April filers are getting their approvals - so initial processing was pretty good. But somehow my particular RFE response seem to have slowed down quite a bit - whereas everyone else seem to just breezed by. I thought maybe my address was an issue but when I called the first time a month ago they had the correct address and email.

It's funny you said that you had a more difficult time in the beginning. My AOS went through with a breeze - not sure if it's because the law firm I hired did a great job or we just didn't have any red flags or the adjudicator who reviewed my case was "competent". But for some reason it's just been taking so long this time around.

Oh well...I really am one of the "lucky ones" lol.

I am hoping to get something by the end of this year - some sort of response. But at this rate I am really not sure :P

So...an update to my service request. I got a letter yesterday from VSC and got a bit excited and realized it was a false alarm. The letter was dated 12/5/13 and sent from VSC. Basically, it tells me that my application is within normal processing time and that I should wait 30 days after the posted time online before I contact USCIS. This is very confusing because 1) I called because it's been 60 days since I hear anything about my RFE and 2) I thought the normal processing time applies to a pending case you haven't heard any response to.

I called up USCIS and got the run around again from the customer rep. and finally after posing my questions multiple times I got routed to the Tier 2 IO. Waited for about 30 mins on hold - which wasn't too bad. The overall experience was pleasant and interesting (with a couple of confusions).

I explained to him my problem and he said that he will send another service request for me. I have an inkling that maybe because he is an immigration officer his request will carry more weight?

A few things I confirmed during this phone call:

1) USCIS online case update should not be relied on lol. He was like "I wouldn't even go there, just call us."

2) I do have up to 1-year to get any response from USCIS - they are not obligated to respond to me sooner. But I should call back within 30 days of it expiring if I still don't hear back.

3) The USCIS posted processing time for the I-751 is inaccurate.

4) And finally, the processing times on each application is really controlled by the officer that adjudicates - so basically if a particular person decides to take a year on your application then so be it.

Go figure :P Nothing I don't already know but I do like to get the confirmation from an actual officer.

He also gave me a solid date of when I should hear back from my officer and he also mentioned that I may get the same response because the officer may consider the RFE falling within the normal processing time. If that's the case, then the normal processing time of 6 months plus the 30 days would have ended on 11/26/13 - so I hope to get some feedback.

OMG guys!!!! I got the approval letter in the mail today!!!!! Finally!!! Letter dated on 12/10 and I rec'd the strange service request letter on 12/11 lol. Really makes you wonder if the service request triggered it :)

I'm on my phone now so can't update myself on the list. I just have to share the news first! Thanks so much for all your support and encouragement! Thanks trochero for the wonderful msg as well :)

Now I do have a question. How was your name shown on the approval letter? Mine is just my first initial and last name. I'm afraid that's how they'll print it on the card. I might have to call on Monday. But that should be an easy fix. Better that than hear no response :)

And also, my letter has a local office address on it though it was sent in a VSC envelope. Will this be one of those x-fer to local office type things?

Good Night

Something happened today. Completely unexpected, very well welcome. Somebody please tell me, this is I what I think it is:

"On December 11, 2013, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283."

I am about cry, somebody please tell me I am not dreaming right now.

I was interviewed in USCIS Jackson Florida and was told that they will forward it to vermont for GC production.

Congrats! How long you been waiting for your Green card after you got approved? I am waiting for almost 1 month and so and my case status on their website has not changed too and got stocked with my changed of address. I was interviewed in USCIS Jackson Florida and was told that they will forward it to vermont for GC production.

So far, I just it has been only a few days, I got approval notification on 12/11/2013. I have been reading a lot and paying attention to this very same matter, I have found out that, almost everybody has gotten their card between 3 to 10 days after receiving the approval notification.

A month is definitely a long time, you should probably call and find out is the address change has something to do with it...5 to 10 days is normal...30 days something is up.

Finally, congratulations!

Don't worry, there should be your full name printed on your green card. My approval letter was the same, just first initial and last name and my card has my full name on it.

My Immigration Journey:
