Hi! Joining the forum late in the game.. Filed for my husband April 2nd at VSC, did biometrics in May (can't remember exact date right now) and just waiting on them for now.. Any ideas on what the waiting time looks like for us?

Hi and welcome to the thread!

The processing timeline is heavily random and unfortunately very unpredictable. There are some March '13 filers who have been approved this month (which means some of us could hear as early as next month), while there are still people who filed back in the fall of 2012 who are still waiting. So it looks like the timeline varies wildly from anything from 4-5 months at the earliest and up to 9 months or so, or even longer for some. The good news is, if you've been waiting longer than 9 months you are usually eligible to apply for citizenship, which is almost certain to speed things up, plus you can file a service request for being beyond normal processing times, and that can speed things up as well. So there are things you can do, but until you reach that time mark, it's pretty much just waiting.

I think a safe assumption for most people is that they should hear back in 6-8 months from filing.

We also filed ROC the same date as you (April 2) and I won't even start thinking about it until we are close to the 6 month mark in early October.

So just brace yourself for a potentially long wait and hopefully we will all hear sooner rather than later.

If you would like to be added to the list, could you take a look at your husband's NOA1 letter (I-797 Notice of Action) and tell us the receipt date stated there (this is the NOA1 date on the list) and also your husband's biometrics appointment letter for the bio date?

Hey yall

I have a quick question for y'all. My wife and I are going to Spain in Sept and I'm about to buy the tickets , but They are asking me for passport number and then for my Greencard info. Now the thing is that it is asking me for Expiration date on my GC, but my green card already expired back in June. I'm planning on going to Spain with my greencard and NOA1 which extends my greencard for one more year. So what should I do? Should I put the actual date shown on my greencard expiring on June 2013 or should I use the extension letter which gives me one more year moving the date to June 2014. THanks

I would ask the airline to be certain, but personally I'd use the 2014 date. But ask them to be sure. Have a good trip!

hello welcome to the forum, the waiting time is about six months. Some people from march I think got they aprovals but many other people from last year still waiting for an answer. Good luck!!!!

It looks like the wait is about 6 months. Looking at Fall '12 filers threads it seems there are people still waiting for approvals but it could be that they simply never came back to update their approval or just taking a while to reply to RFE. There's always gonna be a few cases outside of processing time but those seem to be in minority.

Just for the hell of it, I logged on to see if there was a status update online, and it says that thre is no record of our reciept number. I'm sure it's just not updated in the online system as he recieved his bio letter just fine, but should I be worried? Should I call to make sure that we're in the system?

Did you use the receipt number on your NOA1 letter to log in? If so, that's why you got the error message. Your real case number is actually the one on your biometrics appointment letter which is different to the one on the NOA letter. Confusing, I know. Try the one on the bio appointment letter and I'm sure you'll show up wink.png

I'm still in shock as I wasn't expecting to hear anything until at least September/October rolleyes.gif

So here it goes: at around 8:15pm and while I'm chilling with hubby watching TV, I get a text on my phone saying my case status has been updated and to check the website. The text doesn't give any details. We pause the show immediately and I run to check the website and here it is: "on July 25, 2013 we ordered production of your new card, please allow 30 days" etc. etc.

Woo-hoo dancin5hr.gif I'm shocked and very relieved. I'm leaving for Greece in 3 weeks' time, so there is a chance the card will arrive before then (I hope so), but even if not, I'm not going to sweat it, lol...content.gif

Updating the list with my approval and wishing good luck to everyone else! Hopefully there will be more good news in this thread in the coming weeks good.gif

I'll update again when the card arrives.

I'm still in shock as I wasn't expecting to hear anything until at least September/October rolleyes.gif

So here it goes: at around 8:15pm and while I'm chilling with hubby watching TV, I get a text on my phone saying my case status has been updated and to check the website. The text doesn't give any details. We pause the show immediately and I run to check the website and here it is: "on July 25, 2013 we ordered production of your new card, please allow 30 days" etc. etc.

Woo-hoo dancin5hr.gif I'm shocked and very relieved. I'm leaving for Greece in 3 weeks' time, so there is a chance the card will arrive before then (I hope so), but even if not, I'm not going to sweat it, lol...content.gif

Updating the list with my approval and wishing good luck to everyone else! Hopefully there will be more good news in this thread in the coming weeks good.gif
