I noticed there was a mistake in my biometric app date, I corrected it yesterday from 29 to 24, but I see today there is the same mistake again. Somebody didn't use the last updated list.

I need some advice or simply words to help me not get anxious. Me and my husband have been planning our move from Miami to Nashville, TN since this January. I have a job lined up and he is still looking but already got his Tennessee teaching license. I keep reading posts that moving during this ROC process is a sure fire way to get an RFE. We are planning on doing the change of address sometime in July once we have already signed a new lease on a place and are living there. Does anyone have any experience with this? I am just realizing that the RFE will slow down the whole process, which I guess is fine. Its just the idea of one makes me nervous!

Should I be smarter about when I change the address, should I try to do it sooner or later. After I move and we switch all of our stuff (License, bank accounts) to Tennessee, should I go ahead and send an addendum package before they ask for it. I now I am being kind of ridiculous, but it is hard to find out the process will most likely be interrupted. Any thoughts are welcome.

Judging from other people here on VJ, a move while ROC is still pending may indeed trigger an RFE. However try to see it in its real dimensions: the reason they send an RFE in such cases is to make sure that the couple is still living together and that they didn't separate mid-process (i.e. one or the other moved out of the house). It's purely bureaucratic, it's annoying, but from their point of view, they need to tick their boxes. No point in delaying your plans waiting for the ROC decision, because based on current timelines, that could even come close to the end of the year. Move as planned, take on your new job, and just be sure to switch everything you have jointly to the new address, to have both names on the new lease, bank accounts, credit cards and what not, establish joint utility bills if possible, and generally make sure you have all the same evidence after the move that you had for your original ROC package. No point in sending them additional information if they don't ask for it. You may not get an RFE after all. It seems to be a trend when people move, but not everyone who moved mid-process got an RFE, so no reason to complicate things. You might be among the lucky ones, plus sending additional unsolicited evidence could in itself cause a delay. Do make sure you file change of address with USCIS though (form AR-11) and that your husband files sponsor's change of address (form I-865).

I know how you are nervous about it and nobody wants an RFE. Yes, it is true that it could delay the process by up to a month or so, but all it is, is USCIS requesting additional information, you providing it, and then being approved. Try to see it like that. Try to remember that they are just a bunch of bureaucrats who need to tick their boxes, nothing more and nothing less. Best of luck with your move!

Judging from other people here on VJ, a move while ROC is still pending may indeed trigger an RFE. However try to see it in its real dimensions: the reason they send an RFE in such cases is to make sure that the couple is still living together and that they didn't separate mid-process (i.e. one or the other moved out of the house). It's purely bureaucratic, it's annoying, but from their point of view, they need to tick their boxes. No point in delaying your plans waiting for the ROC decision, because based on current timelines, that could even come close to the end of the year. Move as planned, take on your new job, and just be sure to switch everything you have jointly to the new address, to have both names on the new lease, bank accounts, credit cards and what not, establish joint utility bills if possible, and generally make sure you have all the same evidence after the move that you had for your original ROC package. No point in sending them additional information if they don't ask for it. You may not get an RFE after all. It seems to be a trend when people move, but not everyone who moved mid-process got an RFE, so no reason to complicate things. You might be among the lucky ones, plus sending additional unsolicited evidence could in itself cause a delay. Do make sure you file change of address with USCIS though (form AR-11) and that your husband files sponsor's change of address (form I-865).

I know how you are nervous about it and nobody wants an RFE. Yes, it is true that it could delay the process by up to a month or so, but all it is, is USCIS requesting additional information, you providing it, and then being approved. Try to see it like that. Try to remember that they are just a bunch of bureaucrats who need to tick their boxes, nothing more and nothing less. Best of luck with your move!

Thanks Christi 85, I think you are right. I hope it won't trigger it, but on the bright side, now I will make sure to be extra careful on keeping documents during the move. We will have to change banks driver's licenses and everything. So I am sure if I have to send additional proof, I will have a lot. Better to know now than be surprised later. Thanks again for the kind and logical words.

@jlmiit: if you want to be added to the list, let us know which Service Center you filed with, and one of us will add you. Yes, NOA1 is supposed to arrive within 30 days of filing, so you should be receiving yours soon. If you don't, you need to give them a call to inquire, but also make an InfoPass appointment to have your passport stamped as mentioned above (since the NOA1 serves as your 1 year status extension).

Haha, thanks DNIEPU! We came back yesterday evening. We had a great time and did a ton of stuff, but our family back home was freaking out because they heard about the shooting in New Orleans on Mother's Day (which was way far from where we were, but they had no way of knowing that). DH likes to keep his cell phone off while on vacation. I had mine on, but nobody called me rolleyes.gif neither did they call our hotel to try and reach us there. Instead, both my mother in law and father in law left anxious voice mail messages on hubby's cell phone, but nobody thought of calling me...hmmm.... To top it all off, my mother in law also told my Mom in Greece via email, so my family in Greece was freaking out too for 2 days no0pb.gif Of course they figured we would have called if we were among those injured (nobody was killed luckily), but they were still worrying. What an ordeal and how much simpler it would have been if someone had called MY cell phone ohmy.png , no idea why they didn't do it - I guess they were afraid they'd be bothering me or something wacko.png . Of course we didn't find out about the whole ordeal until after we landed back in LA, so nothing spoiled our trip.

The weather was wonderful for New Orleans too - no rain at all over the 4 days, minimal humidity, sunshine for the most part, and pleasantly warm but not too hot. We lucked out!

Oh well. Back to waiting on USCIS tongue.png

June 18, 2011 - 2-Year Green card received in the mail!!!

April 2, 2013 - I-751 package mailed to California Service Center

April 3, 2013 - NOA1 date
April 8, 2013 - check cleared
May 6, 2013 - Biometrics completed

July 25, 2013 - 10 year green card APPROVED!! (notification via text and email, and website updated)

July 29, 2013 - ROC approval letter received in the mail

July 31, 2013 - 10 year green card received in the mail!!!

I just updated the List with my Info, got NOA two days ago from VSC.

I wonder how long before I get BIO appoinment?

I remember updating the list for you with your NOA1 date a couple days ago and then someone quoted an older version of it and some of the info got lost. People really need to pay closer attention when updating the list.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014
