So it will be two weeks on Monday that they have had my docs. Cheque not cashed and no NOA.

I have got several intl. business trips planned. One being over the expiration date of the Green Card and some after. I suppose I'll just have to get on and book the flights otherwise I'll end up paying lots of extra $$$$ if I leave it too late.

i need your help guys plllllllllllllz plz plz i had a cr1 visa but i entered to usa after 2 years of marriage and i mentioned that to the officer in the airport and asked if he can use the ir1 stamp but he said i shouldn't be worried about the 10 yrs green card and should be exited of meeting my husband , we filed i90 last year bcz i believed i was eligible for 10 yrs visa not 2 , they didnt answer me until last few weeks when i had to file the i751 anyways , and asked for my original green card , i sent the original green card last march , and filed the i751 last April 9 ( my visa's expiration day was April 19,2013)now i dont have a green card and didnt receive the 1 year extension yet , but few minutes ago i went to uscis website to check the i90 status , this is what it says :S:S:S:S

is that mean they accepted my i90 and i'm getting the 10 yrs i was supposed to get ? or it mean nothing ? what about the 590$ i sent with the i751 ? should i cancel it if they didnt cash it yet ? i'm so confused i know the only way is to take an info pass but its very impossible right now coz its in a different state and we cant travel this week .

My check was cashed yesterday.

I have a silly question. What is USCIS Receipt Date? I just noticed it on someone's reply and I am wondering how you can look it up.

Plus, has anyone signed up for status updates on the official website? I have signed up and it did not even ask me for my A# or receipt #. That's strange, right?

I'm assuming you filed at VSC, then? More information so we can add you to the list!!

As for the Receipt Date - that'd be the date on your NOA1 when you get it.

Everyone. Please. I see a LOT of people worried about trips and green card expiry. I will continue to iterate this: if your green card expires and you have NOT received your NOA1 yet (it extends your green card by a year), and it's within 2-3 days of the expiry date (EXAMPLE: it's May 5th, and your green card expires on May 7th) then MAKE AN INFOPASS APPOINTMENT AS SOON AS YOU POSSIBLE CAN. They will give you a stamp in your passport (or should, anyways) that will extend your green card expiry date. My husband got a stamp in his passport today, and it extends his green card for another year. The only downside is that you will HAVE to carry your passport with you at ALL TIMES until you receive your NOA1, and once you get NOA1, then you'll carry that with you until you get your 10 year green card. This is what the guy at our immigration office told my husband and I when we spoke with him, and he was a supervisor, so I'm pretty much betting that we can trust that that's what's needed.

The receipt date will be on your NOA1 letter. The receipt number however is on the biometrics letter, not even on the NOA1(there is one on the NOA1 but it's not the one to be used to check status online). After you receive that, you will be able to check the status online (likely to say "initial review" forever :P )

Also, are you on the list? I'm looking at the latest version and your name is not on.

What is the expiration date on your Green Card? I know you said you sent it back so you don't have it but do you remember? You said your visa's expiration day was April 19, 2013. Do you mean the expiration date on your GC? It seems that you received a 2-year GC and you have to remove conditions.

Filing I-90 will not automatically get you a 10-year GC if you received a 2-year one. It doesn't matter that you believe that you should have gotten a 10-year one, you still have to ROC. What did you state as reason for application? They accepted your I-90 but they probably think that you lost the card and need a new one. So you most likely lost a I-90 filing fee and still have to ROC.

USCIS Receipt Date is date on your NOA1 (the day someone opens your application, enters you into the system and generates NOA1).

Creating an account on USCIS website does not sign you up for case updates. You have to add your case number to your portfolio and select your notification delivery preferences (e-mail and/or text)

Carry a passport at all times? LOL...sounds a little extreme to me. I dont think USCIS is that strict, it isn't like he is gonna get pulled over by border patrol for no reason and asked for documentation.

It's not clear from the USCIS status what application the bio appointment is for. If you entered the US after 2 years of marriage, you should have been granted an unconditional green card and you shouldn't be going through ROC now.

Otherwise the timeline for those who file ROC is the following: within 30 days of filing you get your extension letter and soon thereafter a biometrics appointment letter. Then you wait for 6-8 months and you get either an approval or an RFE and then hopefully an approval, or an interview request (much more rare) and hopefully an approval at interview.
