I had my interview more than 2 weeks ago. they kept my passport and consular officer told me that i will be placed on mandatory Administrative Processing ( but well no problems ) Also told me that the co-sponsor does not qualify as the co-sponsor was lacking about 1000 dollars which actually would be 1000 x 3 = 3000 almost but anyways so i asked him if i can add an asset he told me NO, you need a new co-sponsor because if u added an asset we would think that you are just trying to bypass or persuade us blah blah ( said english words that i did not understand ) Now we have no other Co-sponsor and i think i will re-submit the co-sponsor papers again and since our co-sponsor has the plan 401K she said she will send them the i-864 and will add in the asset part the 401k plan and will include the 401k paper, is this ok or should i just go by what he said and search for new co-sponsor, it sounded like the US embassy does not accept the asset in the i-864? any clue??

Sounds like your co-sponsor was right on the borderline of the minimum level, and the consulates often view this as a problem.

The I-864 instructions say that assets which can be easily converted into cash within one year, and without considerable hardship or financial loss to the owner, may be used.

So your co-sponsor could use the 401K plan as an asset, but note that it will probably not be considered at full face value, due to all the taxes and penalties which would be incurred in the event of cashing it out early.

Wish you best of luck !

If you think that why would the consular officer said that i need to get a new co-sponsor and said if i submitted assets they would probably like do not want to accept it? is this true what he said or what?

The consular officer has no way to know what other assets your co-sponsor might have that were not listed on the form, so he/she doesn't know if there is a 401k plan that could be added. Also, the officer might have thought you meant adding just $3000 in cash as an asset. It's really hard to guess exactly how they interpreted your offer of adding assets.

If I were you, I would probably try to line up another co-sponsor. But you said you don't have one.
