Hi guys. For those of you about to have your medicals I encountered a promlem down the road. Had my greencard interview last wednesday and it turns out the Dr who did my UK medical in Knightbridge ticked the box saying "Vaccination Record Incomplete" because I did not get my Influenza Jab(Flu Shot)as it was out of season. He should have just ticked the box that said "Unable to recieve as out of season" but he ticked both boxes.

So although we are approved as a couple, I need to go to a Dr on there list and get him to re-sign my box or get a flu shot. Have 90 days to get it done and then I post the results to UCSIS.

Not a major issue but things just added expense and a headache to sort out. Hopefully this will stop it happening to a few of you guys.

Keep going. Been happily married for 4 months and started my new job in the US today :-)

Robert

Rob, something isn't right with your story.

Knightsbridge SHOULD tick on the influenza line "not flu season" because your exam was in July.

You would have some other shots marked "not age appropriate" or even "insufficient time interval".

All of those are reasons why a blanket waiver can be given.

Then below the shot chart is the results section. Knightsbridge SHOULD have ticked two things

  • Incomplete (because you didn't get ever shot on the list)
  • May be eligible for blanket waiver (because some shots were not appropriate because of age or not flu season.)

The person who interviewed you at your local office is wrong if your sheet was marked that way. They need to review the adjudicators field manual. You were eligible for a waiver on the flu shot because it was not flu season when you had your medical, so you were perfectly up to date on that day. It further states in the adjudicators handbook that they should go by the date of the medical exam to determine if you were complete on that date. And it also states if it is no longer flu season when you interview, you don't need a flu shot, even if you should have had one on your medical date. Had you interviewed today, flu shot would not be questioned because the season ended yesterday.

If Knightsbridge failed to mark "may be eligible for blanket waiver" along with "incomplete" in the results, then that is wrong but they are pretty consistent with getting that correct.

So do you still have a copy of the immunization sheet? Who made the mistake...Knightsbridge or the guy at your local office? USCIS in general accepts sheets marked as I said above. There's always the chance a particular guy in a local office doesn't know all his stuff.

Knightsbridge ticked both "Incomplete" and "May be eligible for blanket waiver". The lady who did my interview explained it to me and she took it to her Senior and they said the same thing.

All my other shots were tickets as I either got it as a kid or a few weeks prior to the medical.

I have a copy of the immunizations sheet.

Knightsbridge made the error.

I seriously disagree. From the Cdc's Technical Instructions for Panel Physicians ( http://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/exams/ti/panel/vaccination-panel-technical-instructions.html#worksheet ) it says:

Completing "Part 2. Results."

After reviewing entries in "Part 1. Immunization Record" for all the vaccines, the appropriate box under "Part 2. Results" must be checked.

Vaccination history incomplete: Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s).

Completion of a vaccine series is not required to conclude the medical examination, because such a requirement would require multiple visits to a panel physician and could lead to unnecessary delay in the immigration process. If any of the boxes under the "Not Medically Appropriate" heading was checked, the "Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver(s) because vaccination(s) not medically appropriate (as indicated above)" box must also be checked. This box will probably always be checked because some vaccines may not be age appropriate for the applicant.

Knightsbridge is to follow those instruction and it says both boxes will be checked if there are any reasons under "not Medically Appropriate" checked. Not flu season is one of those "not medically appropriate" things. They did not make a mistake.

I think you kinda got a bad deal, because there are hundreds of people who got their greencard with "not flu season" ticked along with results

"Incomplete" and "May be eligible for blanket waiver" both ticked. I hope you find a civil surgeon who doesn't over-charge you.

Nope, because your local office people are convinced you need the form. They are the final decision makers. Oddly enough, if you go to a civil surgeon this week, he will tick "not flu season" so you won't be getting anything new, unless you need a MMR booster or something. Call and ask around. You do not need another exam, blood tests, TB skin test. Ask the price over the phone.
