AOS sent to wrong address

Hi All

I arrived in the US on a K-1 Visa and have filed my AOS package to USCIS, but just discovered I mistakenly sent it to the Phoenix lockbox and not the Chicago one.

Do any of you out there have any advice on what I should do? Or has any one else made this error too and what happened with your case/what did you do? Can I call USCIS and give them my A# to flag the error so they know to send it on?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your quick response! I sent it to:

USCIS

PO Box 21281

Phoenix, AZ 85036

I can't believe I made such a stupid mistake after making sure the contents were perfect. Do you have any idea how long it may take for them to realise it's at the wrong place and return/send it on? Can I call USCIS and give them my A# for some advice?

Thanks again.

The USCIS customer service is very often not very knowledgeable, but you can try. :)

WHEN did you send your package?

So I know I'm not the first and won't be the last person to do this. For all you people out there that made the same error that I did and are researching it, don't panic. I've spoken to USCIS a couple of times and their advice is to be patient. Within 10 business days of the receipt of your package, it will be opened and processed by someone working at the lockbox. At which point they will realise it is at the wrong place and do one of two things. Either forward it on to the correct lockbox facility. Or return the package to you. This takes another 10 days either way.

If, like in my case, they have deposited the check, they will forward it on to the facility for you. At this stage, you can wait the 10 days to get the receipt number, or look at your online banking (or have a bank employee do it for you) and see your scanned check. On the reverse will be your receipt number, so you can track your progress.

Hope this helps. Like I said, their advice is that it happens a lot and measures are enforced to make sure you're not lost in the system.
