So how feasible is this, she would like to know.... cos the one week return for passport is threatening to throw spanner into her well-oiled plans. Anyone with such experience where, armed with a letter authorizing the bearer, passport can be collected on behalf of the applicant.

Ofcourse bearer knows we are well aware of the nearest babalawo`s shrine....so..........

Well we will certainly learn one new thing by this time tomorrow...thats for sure....cos my fiancee is still out of Lagos leaving behind a nicely worded letter for the embassy. Even before one stroke of the pen made contact with paper, we had heard about the mission impossible. I said to her: It is still a passport with visa: Not nearly enough to make you fly back and forth (hello.......... recent Airline disasters...).

If the bearer of the letter is unable to collect the passport and visa, then it is fairly rigid rule they have in place but i say lets roll the dice for the sake of information.

Staying back in Lagos waiting for Tuesday would have put paid to all her goodbye merry-go-round visits- a necessary prep. for her final departure from Naijaaaaaaa........

So now i know: The US embassy will not give the passport/visa to a third party.......unless perhaps under very unusual circumstances.

Fiancee will have to wait until Friday 24th to collect her passport/visa which was confirmed as ready for pick up

Glad she was able to travel and complete all her errands between interview date and 24th.
