Alright. So I hope I'm posting this in the right place, I've searched around and haven't been able to find an answer, so I'm hoping someone else has gone through it and can help.

So this summer my US Citizen fiance is planning to visit me in England for 6 weeks. During that trip, I'd like to take her to Paris for a day or two, I was just wondering if there would be any issues in terms of border control or anything? Will we need any visas/travel documents? From what I can tell from the vague info on the travel sites, she can enter both England and France without needing any visas, but I wasn't sure if this changes if she's trying to enter France from the UK and back again.

Thanks.

No visa needed just PP that's is has 6 mths or more time before it expires USC goes to both countries with no visas

That's what I figured. Just wanted to make sure, would be a disaster if she ended up stranded in France and I had to leave. Cheers.

Edit: Do you know of anywhere this particular scenario is written about? Thanks.

I'm the USC. I've been from England to France three times. Once on the high speed train from Waterloo in London to Paris. Twice we drove and took the ferry from Dover. Only the passport was needed.

We've done the exact same thing several times with my fiance (at the time, now married) visting me in Britain and going from UK to France. You don't need anything other than your passport because UK and France are both in Visa Waiver program with the US. You might get asked a couple of questions at the UK border when you come back in just to check your fiance lives in the US and not with you in the UK, but nothing unusual.

It shouldn't be a problem for the US Citizen.

A bunch of times when I (also the USC) went to England, we took side trips to other countries (including some that were not part of the Visa Waiver Program going back to the US so no worries on that end).

I had no trouble getting in/out and all I needed was my passport. When I came back to the UK one time though, the border patrol guy looked a bit confused and said, "but this stamp is from about a week ago" and I said, "Yes, that's when I came to the UK from the US. We just took a side trip to Sweden and I'll be here for another week and I'll go home" and he was friendly and asked how it was and said OK and stamped me back into the UK.

If it gives you peace of mind, have the USC bring a copy of their flight details back to the US to show they intend to leave. I believe on the passport when you're stamped in the UK coming from the US, it says "Leave to enter for six months, no employment or access to public funds." Meaning, you're stamped in for 6 months and can come and go as you please, right?
