Hi All,

I am filing DS230 (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration) for my mom and I am the petioner. I am little bit confused about DS230, questions 31a and 31b. The reason is that, once I bring my mom to the USA, I would like her to apply for my brother who is under 21. So, since my brother will not be coming with my mom, I believe 31a, can be N/A or None. However, once she comes to the states she will apply for my brother based on F2A, in that case, is it necessary for her to list my brother under 31b?

Also she does not know what she will be doing here, so what would be the best answer for "32. what occupation do you intend to work in the United States?" ?

Thank you all in advance.

It is your mom (the applicant) that is going to fill up the Form DS-230 not you (the petitioner). It needs her signature in the Part 1 (page 2) & leave the Part II (page 4) unsigned since that will be signed on the interview day. The DS-230 packet consists of your mom's civil documents like her certified/original birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree(if applicable), police clearance, photocopy of her Bio-page passport, her 2x2 passport/visa photos and the Cover Sheet from the payment portal. Also required is the petitioner's (YOU) certified/original birth certificate & marriage certificate (if applicable due to legal name change).

I think you meant 21a & 21b.

Your answer for

21a should be NONE.

21b should be NONE also because there is no petition for your brother yet.

Thank you very much for the prompt response. Sorry, I worded wrong. What I meant was, I am assisting my mom for filing the form, so technically she will be submitting the DS230. Also, I am not sure if they redesigned the forms but according to hxxp://xxx.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/visa/index.htm and form DS230, those questions are located #31. Since my brother is out of picture at this point, I completely agree why both questions would be None. I just did not want to have problem in the future where they would give us hard time stating that we did not put him in the first place, but I see that it is not the case. Thx again.

(Please change x's to w's since I have less than 5 posts, it did not let me post the link ;) )

Hi everyone!!

I'm in an inmigrant visa process, the last letter NVC send us sayd we have an appointment at the embassy, I have some questions:

we filled the DS230 forms, this was two years ago and we send them to the NVC, in the appointment letter sayd all documents where forward to embassy... but should I fill again the form DS230?

The other question I have is because now I'm 23 years old, when the petition process started I was still young age (under 21) is this a kind of problem?

Thanks a lot for your help
