Yes you can send in the IV package even though they have not yet reviewed the AOS package. And they always say it takes 20 business days from when they receive the package to review it, but really you need to call everyday and ask if they have reviewed it yet.

I'm starting to feel thankful that I wake up so early.

Every phone call that I've made to NVC has been an instant answer.

It seems I will making many phone calls and I would get very tired of being on hold so much.

Hey! Quick question - If I'm over visiting the US on an ESTA before my interview date...is proof of my interview date evidence of my intended return to the UK or should I avoid mentioning it?

I can't decide whether they will see it as 'well of course she's going to return to the UK because it would be dumb to stay illegally when she has an interview for a legal visa' or whether they will view it as 'she's gonna try and stay and we know she wants to'. Does that make sense? Lol!

Why are you visiting?

Chances are they will ask you why you're visiting.

If you're visiting your husband, you'll say so.

If they ask what your plans are (which they many times do) then you can tell them you're in the middle of immigration.

Just answer the questions truthfully.

For us, we have to fork over a packet of proof which inevitably includes our NOAs so it never comes up in question.

Hiya! I'm visiting my husband for our anniversary! Oh yes I would definitely tell them truthfully why I'm there. I just wasn't sure if showing my proof of interview and return flight would provide them enough evidence that I don't intend to stay illegally or whether they would turn me away. I guess it's totally dependent on the person when I arrive?

Yes, it's always up to the discretion of the approving officer.

You should always bring proof of these items as well.

During the process of going through tons of documents....I hope you realized it said on each letter " This letter does not mean beneficiary is guaranteed of approval..." and they assume you understand it will applied to interview as well. For U.K it's a low risk on radar and if she hold U.K passport I don't see why, unless some requirement she doesn't meet for electronic visa.

Thanks. I just asked because after reading through the board, some members were asked to present a signed copy of the I-864 at the interview rather than a photocopy.

exactly ! canada and china, for example - when members utilize EP, must to show original signature and original I-864 on interview day. it's a requirement, for that consulate post.

Since yer homed to India, all I-864 intake occurs at NVC, and you must send original signatures into NVC (not India).

Good Luck, and Go Get Em !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Yup I know there's no guarantee which is why I wasn't sure if my interview would be proof enough that I intend to return to the UK for it. I already have an ESTA on my passport which is valid until October so I'm not worried about that part. Just concerned that when I get over there, because I have an upcoming interview, they might decide not to let me in! I guess it's a risk I'll have to take because it will totally depend on who I get when I arrive at the US. Just praying I get someone nice :)

In my cover letter, I already mentioned that I was already working in Singapore and I sent my Federal Tax Return + Form 2555 + Form IR8E (in Singapore they use form IR8E instead of W2).

Can I just call them explaining that I do not have W2 as my company is not based in US or has any connection to the US and Form IR8E was the only form I was issued or do I need to mail in my explanation letter with the checklist?

Interesting that it wasn't clear to the reviewer not to expect W-2s.

You don't have them, can't generate them, and showed them other stuff.

Ask for another review, but request it from a Supervisor, over the phone. Explain all to the supervisor, ask the supervisor to talk with the Supervisor of the Reviewing team, and ask that a different reviewer be assigned, as the person that first reviewed it does not know what foreign income reported looks like.

That's my two cents. You could spin round and round on this, till you get the right human to make the proper determination and understand what's in front of them.

Here's something I'm not familiar with based on the guides.

Today for the first time, when I called for my case number, she reviewed my email address, phone numbers, and gave me the actual case number.

However, she said she didn't have an invoice identification number yet.

Is this normal? She didn't seem reluctant to give it, just that they hadn't gotten one yet.

Is this something I should wait to call back about until Monday?

Or is it something that could be assigned later this afternoon?

this is normal, and covered in the FAQ. Also covered in LingChe.

Time and Timing is a bit off for you, for this, but it's ok - usually the IIN is generated same day or next day.

On the DS-260 it states:

Is your spouse immigrating to the US with you?

I put no because she's already living there.

Is your spouse immigrating to the US at a later date to join you?

I put no here, too, since she is already there.

Plus I feel the answers should be no because she's a US citizen and doesn't need to immigrate. Am I answering these questions properly? I would think so. It's just that they are kind of weird to ask if she is a US citizen.
