So the dummy *me* entered the wrong number for my checking account for the AOS fee, it showed paid on Friday but when I called NVC she informed me that is was rejected, but did mention that my IV is paid. I just resubmitted my payment for AOS. Would this in anyway hold up my file from being reviewed? And for some odd reason they had my work address as my email address when I gave them my personal email address and they accepted my DS-3032 with that. So maybe I messed up on one of the recent forms is my guess.

I need to slow my role and take my time.

I already have an idea of how to proceed but wanted to run it by more knowledgable people.smile.gif

I checked my case again on the DOS portal and now it says it's Ready. Has a "Status Updated Date" of April 1. Hope it's not a joke…

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment.

We have not received a confirmation of our expedite, not sure it matters. We have not been "notified" of our interview appointment, I know it would be too soon.

DHL tracking shows our file is in Kathmandu and will be delivered tomorrow, which is Tuesday the 2nd. I have made an appointment to speak with a consular on Wednesday. Hopefully they will be helpful and we can arrange an interview right there. I will ask about potential conflicts with having the interview before the medical (the medical people are jammed until our appointment date on the 9th). I will also ask about whether they will need 2012 tax returns from our joint-sponsor if the interview date is after the 15th. If they require more documents after the 15th I am hoping we can fit an interview in after the 9th and before the 15th.

This has been an interesting process. Now it's time to see how the embassy handles their part of it. I am hoping with grace.

Just for fun I called DOS tonight to see what they had to say. I think the guy was watching TV and eating a pizza. He was more confused and lost than I am.laughing.gif

Thanks Saylin!

Just to double check, hypothetically if their adjusted gross income on their joint tax transcript is $55000, do I put that amount for Q23 for FIL's I864 and Q10 for MIL's I864A? I feel so stupid asking these questions but I'm really not used to the US tax transcripts, the Canadian ones are so different and much easier to figure out.

No, for the FIL you'd put the amount from the transcript on question 25, then his own individual income on 23. For the MIL, the amount from the transcript would be in question 11, and then her own individual income in 10.

The amount on the transcript is their COMBINED income. No where on the transcript will you find individual income (if filed jointly).

Nope, it won't hold up your file.

As long as they have some valid email address, it really doesn't matter.

Beneficiary Identification Number. Although I have no idea what it's for because we never were asked for it or used it on any of our forms.

Only people who do EP (electronic processing) need it, which is mostly Mexico and Canada. Bsd058 will definitely need to ask for it when his numbers get assigned. good.gif

What does BIN stand for?

Beneficiary Identification Number. It's the same length as the IIN, but for a different purpose. You'll need it, so make sure you get it.

Only people who do EP (electronic processing) need it, which is mostly Mexico and Canada. Bsd058 will definitely need to ask for it when his numbers get assigned. good.gif

Actually, that's wrong. The BIN is used for online forms, not electronic processing. There's a HUGE difference between the two. Unfortunately, people mix them up often.

Electronic processing = send packages by email

Online forms = fill out the DS-261 (DS-3032 essentially) and the DS-260 (DS-230 essentially) online

And there's waaaaay more than just Mexico and Canada who are eligible for EP. And online forms as well. The table of these countries are listed in the first post.

I knew there were more countries that did EP but didn't want to incorrectly list them. Didn't know the difference between EP and online forms, though! Thanks for the correction. good.gif

I'm assuming the only way to get their individual income would be on their w2's? This is such a huge headache
