It is so nerve wracking waiting on the NVC to review the packages. Not because I'm wanting to them to hurry, but because it's been too easy thus far and I'm kinda expecting a problem.

After reading stuff I have a feeling that the website that I filed my taxes with told me wrong when filing (told me head of house since I have children and a spouse not living here with no SSN that the IRS wouldn't accept my taxes otherwise but all I'm reading here says should have filed married SOMETHING). So I'm expecting them to tell me I have to file an addendum, but praying they don't look that closely since my other two years are married jointly with my ex-husband and we have a co-sponsor. One can pray right?! But I'm ready if they need it amended, I just want to know so I can get to work on it.

PLUS my husband's police cert is not the LONG version though he has one ordered because he knows it's needed for his medical so I'm waiting to see if they need that too. Though as soon as he gets it (getting 2 copies) he is mailing one to me just in case.

The wait is torture and I just want to know what/if anything they need me to fix or resend. I didn't have the tax transcripts either but I have those now too. Ready for NVC if requested, if not husband will be taking them to the interview. The anxiety is just a killer!!!!

I'm right there with you. I filed head of household and didn't add my husband. But I was told by the IRS I didn't have to claim him because he is not here in the USA, he didn't have a SSN# and we didn't share income.

I didn't send this years tax returns yet either because I sent all the info to my lawyer before I had filed. But like you I now have the transcripts.

I am also a little worried about a translation error on my husbands BC. They wrote herself vs himself. I don't think it should be a big deal but I'm not sure.

I think the waiting at the NVC is harder than the USCIS because you knew there was going to be a long wait there. Now we are sooooo close but still so far away. Time seems to have slowed down. At least that's how I feel.

You have no idea no idea how much of a relief it is to see they told someone else the same thing! I mean tears of relief kind of relief!!!! I feel like they are slowing down too but after 39 days at USCIS I have no room to complain. But thank you soooo much for telling me you were given the same info! That really helps!

I don't know all the answers but I have a lawyer as my choice of agent and I still call the NVC and check on things. When the NVC emailed the bills for the AOS and IV it went to the lawyer, My husband and me (USC).

From our experience, everything was emailed! :)

Thanks guys! It sounds then like both options are just fine. She went ahead and emailed them myself as her choice of Agent.

Now off to continue working on AOS/DS-230!

Just talked to my wife and she told me that during the time she studied in the other city, she notified her local province that she would be absent from her parent's home. Now I guess we have to include it in question 30 . She told me that when she went home, she never went to the government office to update the time she were back home. So technically the govt only has record of her staying at the college address during the 4 years she was there, not the time she was at home. She only went to the government office to notify her temporary stay was over after graduation .

I didn't include this college address in my G-325A since the Vietnamese government only considers her parent's home to be her permanent resident and the college address was only the temporary resident.

So on form DS-230, I will list her location during university but in the G-325A, I did not list her address during university (since the G-325A was not very clear, they just said "residence", which I thought to be permanent residence). Will this be a problem ? I want to stay consistent but now that my wife explained it like that, I will have to list this duration in the DS-230, otherwise it would mean I am hiding this information.

In that case, include the college address. And just bring an updated G-325A to the interview. Don't present it unless the issue comes up. Honestly, don't worry about it. People make small errors like that all the time. They're not going to deny the visa or anything for something like this. Now, if you covered up the entire time she was a drug dealer or something, then that might be grounds to deny. But not something like a college address no0pb.gif

Hey Guys,

I'm new to these forums but have a read and benefited a lot from all the info, so thanks! I'm just starting the NVC process now (as petitioner) and had a quick question about Choice of Agent. I'm living abroad in Lebanon with my spouse until her visa is ready. We have a really unreliable mail system out here, so I was wondering if I should use my fathers info and permanent address in the states for Choice of Agent. At the same time I was told by the NVC rep on the phone that all correspondence from them will be through email, so perhaps the bad mail system here would be irrelevant. Mailing the major remaining forms out from here will be fine since I can just send FedEx.

So my questions are

1) Is it important for the Agent we choose have a reliable, quick snail mail location (like the US)?

2) If I did use my father, would he then have to act on each form and in each communication with NVC from here on out? Or could we just use his address and continue handling the details ourselves?

I'm leaning towards just making myself her Agent and hoping we don't have to receive snail mail, but just thought I'd ask before sending in the DS-3032 email.

Thanks!!

As long as both email addresses are given to NVC once a case number is assigned, then all correspondence from them is sent by email, making the DS-3032 form sort of moot. So, you can have yourself elected as agent with no issues. Just make sure NVC has both of your email addresses.

The wait is torture and I just want to know what/if anything they need me to fix or resend. I didn't have the tax transcripts either but I have those now too. Ready for NVC if requested, if not husband will be taking them to the interview. The anxiety is just a killer!!!!

Filing HOH is completely acceptable when married. Most people here are newly weds with no children, so can't file HOH, so that's why you typically only see people mention two ways of filing taxes (MFS and MFJ). But technically, HOH is another valid option. Basically, as long as you didn't file single, then you're golden!

Just recieved an email confirming NVC has recieved my DS260 supporting documents. It said to give it 20 days to be uploaded and reviewed. Does anyone know if it'll really take that long? Definitely not 20 days. It's typically just a week or two. I'd say it's quite possible to have a case complete by the end of next week yes.gif

If they mentioned they received it, the review has probably started. I'd suggest calling later tonight, a little before they close, and see if there's any updates.

I had a lady tell me last night that my package was received and I got excited and said so it shows received in your system? She said no it wont show received till it is reviewed and you need to wait 20 b days. She was just saying since I sent it, it was received and I need to wait. Her wording was misleading.

Yes she actually said they have recieved the case. I sent it overnight so it was delivery on March 28th which is a few days before you... hopefully today is the day they review ours and I am sure you will be soon after.

Case complete email this morning!!!

Now the interview date...waiting is almost done. So very excited - mainly for not having to wait for someone else anymore. Man, this process sure requires LOTS of patience!

That's great!. I'm hoping my case will be completed soon just because there seems to be a long wait for an interview date in Turkey. Hopefully if we finish in the next few weeks we can get a end of June or early July but I'm thinking it will be end of July or early Aug :(
