NVC's payment portal did not let us view/email/print the bar-coded coversheets until the bills were marked "PAID". :crying:

We also got emails from DoS with subject "U.S. DoS - [AOS/IV Application] Cover Page for Case" after bills were marked "PAID".

Did we really wait all that extra time for no reason?! :bonk::oops: OMG!! I hope not... I would hate myself now.

Hmnnnnnnn.....that's weird. I think months ago you had to wait, but I know for sure you can mail before paid. I've done it and I know a few others have too. Maybe it's all luck??

At least you sent everything in. That's most important.

My husband and I sent in our AOS package in September. In it, we said that we would bring along his Indian PCC at the time of his interview. They issued a checklist for it. Fastforward a few months and we were in a crazy holding pattern over his PCC (so, I guess we're happy about that checklist). We then sent in a letter from the Indian authorities saying that the PCC was on its way. We received another checklist.

Now, I saw on this thread that Saylin said (can't find the exact post) that sometimes you can request that your case be closed while you wait for your document or something to that nature. I spoke with an operator about this. She said that they automatically close your case after two months of waiting. I said that it's been more than two months, so, can you just close our case? She sorta bumbled through a response which I don't remember.

My question is, how do I go about closing my case? If I request a supervisor review, how should I word it?

I've never heard that a case is automatically closed after 2 months of waiting. That doesn't sound right to me. But yes, I've seen people request in the past for the case to be closed and the original certificate would be presented at the interview. Just request a supervisor review and politely ask for your case to be completed. Mention you'll be bringing the certificate with you to the interview. Remember, it's not guaranteed that they'll accept your request, but it's definitely worth a shot!

EIGHT DAYS!!!! Bloody hell how would even get everything SENT that fast. Insanely awesome!

Yeah, their process was insanely quick through NVC! Both parties were on the ball!

IV Bill received and paid W00t!

One question. I had a family friend (lawyer) help us out filling the initial application. On the G-325a he had my wife only write her "permanent" address as her residence. She was in dorms for college, but he said it didn't have to be listed as all the bills, etc was sent to the home address. On the DS-230 we listed her address in dorms of more than 6 months per the instructions. Should she carry a corrected G-325a with her to the interview?

Definitely wouldn't hurt to bring an updated G-325A. Only present it if needed.

As of the last year or so, the bar-coded cover sheets have been available as soon as the bills were paid, so there's now no need to wait until it's marked as PAID.

So what is one to do if the bar coded coversheet doesn't show up??

Literally just send documents without it??

Now I wonder.

I try being proactive and get myself another original birth certificate, and police record.

From all I've been reading and the loss of papers, I have peace of mind.

The bar-coded cover sheet WILL show up. I've never seen it NOT show up. Plus, it's emailed to you afterwards anyways.

Wish I knew that earlier... would have tried again with different browsers (other than Google Chrome). :crying:

I just blindly followed the "EZ" spouse guide, which states you have to wait until bills are marked as PAID:

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse :cry2:

Oh well, I'd better not wallow in self-pity (it's unhealthy) because NVC was still way faster than USCIS.

Positive Thinking! :goofy:

Yeah, keep in mind WHEN those guides were written. Heck, I believe it's James shortcuts that are even worse where they give you instructions on how to make your own bar-coded cover sheets. That's really outdated as that's when you had to MAIL payments as there was no online payment portal.

Thank you. I like the word "WILL show up".

My question was in regards to the posting where it didn't show up.

But I'm pleased to know it does.

That person never said it didn't show up. They were able to see it, just not until after the bills showed as paid.

Ugh. Hubby called NVC to see if a Supervisor had taken a look at my file to see if what I sent for Military Records is adequate.

He was told 10-15 business days for them to pull the file and review it. :crying:

I’m worried about my interview date now.

About 5 mins ago I received what I think to be a fake checklist for the DS230 since AOS was accepted last Friday. Does anyone have timeframe as to how long after receiving this fake checklist to cse complete?

I waited until the AoS was shown as paid before I sent it then saw some others talking about sending it in right away, so I asked and Saylin actually told me the bit about not having to wait. So I got my IV in earlier. You are not alone but at least it was just 3 days or so and not 3 weeks. Could have been MUCH worse. But hey you know for next time right?! Because I'm sure we will all be looking for others to willingly go through this again with ASAP...NOT!!!!!!!! hahaha

Hi guys, I really need your help on this one.

On form DS-230, question 30, do I need to list my wife's location in college ? She went to a different city for college but she always came home during holidays, spring break and summer vacations. She never stayed there consecutively for more than 6 months anyway since in between the semesters, there were always at least 1 month breaks (spring break) to 3 month breaks (summer vacation). Also sometime when her classes do not require her to stay nearby, she always went home, studied from home and submitted homework to her professors via emails.

Also her mailing address was still kept at her parent's house during all this time.

I didn't list her college address when filing G-325A so should I be consistent here and not list the college address here also ?

Please advise, thanks :help: :help: :help:

If her mailing address was still home while at college, then I'd use that address. The fact that you call home home and not her college home, that sorta indicates something ;) Plus, you'll be staying consistent.
