Wait... how did you send both packages on the same day and only 7 days later?

Didn't you have to include the respective bar-coded coversheets in both packages?

Or did all of the following stuff happen for you in just 7 days (March 20 to 27)? :wow:

  1. Send DS-3032 by email to get IV bill
  2. Wait for IV bill
  3. Pay IV bill
  4. Wait for IV bill to appear as "PAID"
  5. Print IV bar-coded cover sheet
  6. Wait for AOS bill
  7. Pay AOS bill
  8. Wait for AOS bill to appear as "PAID"
  9. Print AOS bar-coded cover sheet

You don't have to wait for the bills to appear paid. The barcode is available right away. I paid and sent it in on the same day.

My husband and I sent in our AOS package in September. In it, we said that we would bring along his Indian PCC at the time of his interview. They issued a checklist for it. Fastforward a few months and we were in a crazy holding pattern over his PCC (so, I guess we're happy about that checklist). We then sent in a letter from the Indian authorities saying that the PCC was on its way. We received another checklist.

Now, I saw on this thread that Saylin said (can't find the exact post) that sometimes you can request that your case be closed while you wait for your document or something to that nature. I spoke with an operator about this. She said that they automatically close your case after two months of waiting. I said that it's been more than two months, so, can you just close our case? She sorta bumbled through a response which I don't remember.

My question is, how do I go about closing my case? If I request a supervisor review, how should I word it?

hey saylin....hope u'll help me clear this doubt of mine....I've the same situation like Angeljay referred to....My husband's joint sponsors are my parents....we had filed I-864 from me; I-864A from my dad & I-864A from my mom....and NVC had accepted our AOS packet without any questions asked....I was wondering whether I should do an I-864 from my dad also as his is main parent sponsor...just in case....what are the chances that they will ask for it during the interview?

IMO, the father-in-law should have filed an I-864 (same as the petitioner) and then the mother-in-law file an I-864A. You can bring a filled out I-864 from the father-in-law, but the embassy might not have any issues with the I-864A. If you do bring it, don't present it unless requested.

Thanks a lot Saylin, you are such a great helper. :) i'll make sure my husband has a filled out I-864 from my dad with him, when he goes for the interview....and let him know what u've suggested.....oh God, he has his interview in less than 10 days....i'm so stressed out...

There are a few countries that allow advance medicals. The Philippines and the UK are some of them, so as soon as you get a case number, you can get a medical done. But remember, typically, medicals are only good for up to 6 months.

For those in the UK, I'd suggest waiting until you get an interview date assigned, or at least a case complete, before getting the medical done. For the Philippines though, unless you expect your NVC process to be long, I suggest getting it done right away as they have to have TB tests (I believe that's the test) where it's often a false positive, but they have to undergo 6 months of treatment regardless. So if one waits until after an interview is scheduled, then finds out they need treatment, they need to wait 6 months and reschedule their interview. This unfortunately happened to a friend of mine here.

But, I digress. If you don't want to fly to London twice, then just go there for about a week, get the medical done right away as it can take a few days for results. Then, after the interview, fly back home. A lot of Canadians do this in Montreal as there's only a handful of panel physicians spread throughout Canada.

I like to give some information on this matter.

I understand with the medical every country is different.

I spoken to the German consulate. The medical here is good for 12 month and is walk in.

No appointment for early morning hours.

The issue with the TB (I speak from a lifetime experience)

I'm a TB carrier. If you know you are a carrier (positive). Do not have the test done.

You receive the actual TB under your skin for testing (giving the possibility to break out)

You simply have an x-ray of your lungs done. Now I always worked in the health care field in the states without any issues. The US bureau of disease control advised me against any medication (unless I break out which is understandable).

There severe downsides to it. The US isn't requiring anyone to take these medication. In my call with the consulate doctors office I only mentioned I'm a carrier, and they only said "okay than we do x-rays". No hassle.

The operators won't know a package has been received until it's been reviewed. So, if they're saying they just received it, that means they're starting the review on the package. This is good news ;)

It can take a few days to receive correspondence from NVC. This is why I always suggest calling every single day so you can stay as up to date as possible on your case.

IV Bill received and paid W00t!

One question. I had a family friend (lawyer) help us out filling the initial application. On the G-325a he had my wife only write her "permanent" address as her residence. She was in dorms for college, but he said it didn't have to be listed as all the bills, etc was sent to the home address. On the DS-230 we listed her address in dorms of more than 6 months per the instructions. Should she carry a corrected G-325a with her to the interview?

You don't have to wait for the bills to appear paid. The barcode is available right away. I paid and sent it in on the same day.

NVC's payment portal did not let us view/email/print the bar-coded coversheets until the bills were marked "PAID". :crying:

We also got emails from DoS with subject "U.S. DoS - [AOS/IV Application] Cover Page for Case" after bills were marked "PAID".

Did we really wait all that extra time for no reason?! :bonk::oops: OMG!! I hope not... I would hate myself now.
