I see :(, that will delay my NVC step significantly then :(. I called the Singapore Police Department and was told that it will take 3+ weeks for them to process my request (if I have the NVC checklist).

Is there anyway you can tell NVC to send you the checklist but still go ahead and mail your NVC package to the US Embassy in Singapore ? Then I can use the checklist to get the Police Clearance and then bring with me to the interview.

Can I ask them to do this by a cover letter or do you think it would be better for me to email the NVC now asking for a requesting letter and then submitted to the Singapore Police ?

If it makes you feel better, I didn't include a PCC in my ds-230 package and wrote a letter asking if I could bring it with me to the interview...however I will have it by next week so if they ask for it, its ready...

but as Saylin said below, some ppl were able to bring it with them to the interview..so lets hope...

Called today to check if our IV packet was reviewed, and the operator said yes, BUT, they rejected our marriage certificate and my wife's birth certificate, saying it wasn't original or certified. Both were, I had gotten two certified copies of each, and sent one to USCIS, and this second set to NVC. They'll re-review but now my wife has to get the documents again and make sure certified properly from the issuing authority.

This is devastating, instead of a case complete, a checklist, getting close to cutting into the window that my wife can visit between semesters of late July. Feel like crying... crying.gifsad.gifheadbonk.gifmad.gif

That's what I got! My husband sent English Nikkah Papers, which were rejected at first but later got ok. But I had to apply for Birth certificate issued from Nadra now, though sent the translated version of the original. Lets see what happen now. Btw I don't know what do you mean by certified here, but I sent the original translated version of birth certificate attested from the issuing authority still wasn't accepted

Saylin and LunarStar, thank you so much for your advice and for your experience. I guess I will try asking the NVC, it's worth a shot, if it doesn't work out, it will just add another month to my processing time.

I will keep you guys posted about my case in case somebody is caught in the same situation in the future.

I'll see tomorrow when they send the checklist email exactly what it says.

Keep on them!!! Call again today and if you get the same thing I'd ask to speak to a tier 2 and see if that gets you anywhere. If they want something specific whether native language or english then it needs to say that. If your wife can get the documents in BOTH languages maybe that would make them happy. Try to just breath through it. Remember you are very close now. I know that you are worried for her off time in school break, but remember you can use that as a means to ask for an earlier interview date. Never hurts to try. The fact that you are trying to time it between her semesters at school does show priority over some others I would think.

I am currently living in Singapore with my wife. She's from Vietnam. My question is that whether I can make the NVC processes my case without the Singapore Police Certificate and issues me a checklist, which then I will use to apply for an appeal to get the Certificate and bring it to interview.

Has anybody had any issues obtaining a Police Certificate without some kinds of requesting letter from NVC before ? How did you proceed ? Can you ask the NVC to just ship the case to the US Embassy and bring the Police Certificate later to the interview ?

there's entire thread on what some phils visa chaserrs did, they were OFW in singapura.

I'll find it, post a link.

which consulate will you be interviewing at?

Thanks for your concern! Yes, I called back the same night to get the IIN and gave them our email addresses, which it seems they already had and just needed to confirm.

Is it best to email our DS-3032 now or wait until we receive the email from NVC?

EDIT: And wouldn't you know, like 2 minutes after I posted this, I got an email from the NVC!

if that's an AOS fee bill, you can send in the OPT IN EMAIL, including the scanned, signed, DS-3032 in pdf format as a file attachment.

Go Get Em !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

We received our interview appointment. I'd like to share the whole story but's kind of a rant so I'll post it on the Rant Thread. I am so burned out…

Well, looking at your signature, looks like your interview is on April 9th and the medical was pushed forwards, so looks like everything is going to work out! Congrats :) I don't know the whole story of course, but to me, it looks like all good news!

Just emailed my IV Packet via electronic processing! About to send in the AOS packet tomorrow :) I had butterflies in my stomach before pressing SEND lol

Woohoo!

Don't worry, I had the exact same butterflies when I was sending the packages! laughing.gif Either the first or second time I sent packages, I accidentally forgot to attach the PDF. Thank goodness Gmail gave me a warning before sending it saying I hadn't attached anything even though I mentioned attaching sometime in the body headbonk.gif

I was the same. Then I had to double check everything I sent.

I think it’s all part of the process driving us crazy.

Was looking good until I found out today that NVC never sent our IV packet with original documents with our case to the embassy. The embassy is telling me to call NVC and straighten it out! On hold now with NVC. So upsetting because I was assured it would be sent with our case on three separate phone calls.girlwerewolf2xn.gif

Nope, that should be the last email from NVC. If you're to get another email, it'd be from the embassy.

You need to call NVC to find out when the case was sent out, and then DOS a few days after it was sent out to make sure it arrived safely.

Some embassies/consulates allow US citizens inside, others don't. In some places (DR if I remember correctly), the petitioners are practically required, otherwise you're not approved. Canada, for example, lets the petitioner in with no issues and they're even allowed inside the interview room. It varies by embassy/consulate, so you'll need to check your country's website as well as any info you can dig up here on VJ. If you can't find info online, contact the embassy directly to get your answer. If you are allowed inside, all you're need is your US passport, along with your beneficiary.

Pros = moral support for the spouse, shows bona fide evidence in a way

Cons = petitioner may get asked questions (in MENA countries, this can mean separate rooms being grilled)

It's ultimately up to and your spouse though (and of course the embassy to let you inside). Personally, for our case, my husband did not join me. It would have been a waste of money as I was in and out within 2 hours. And he probably would have made me more nervous somehow. Plus, he would have been distracting and I wouldn't have been able to absorb as much information as I did laughing.gif But, I'm from Canada, an easy place to interview where the petitioner is definitely not required or needed to be there. Other countries are different.

Thanks Saylin.

I will start calling NVC from this week (got the case complete and interview date on Monday April 1st) so will give it a few days. I will look through the initial thread to see if there is a phone number of DOS that I can call to check if the case has been received. I believe first we talk to NVC and then after a few days we start calling DOS right?

I have not been able to get the information on whether New Delhi embassy allows petitioners in or not. I searched through this forum and other forums as well but could not find that information.

I understand the pros and cons of being there - thanks for your thoughts on that.

Is there an email address to be able to contact them or do I need to just call them to ask this question?
