Trying to figure out how to create a timeline as we sent in our papers today, a week later than I intended, but oh well. They're sent now. *excited*

How long did it take for you to get your Advance Parole? Can they deny it, and when will they let me know if they do? I live in New York, is the waiting time longer here since it's a big city?

I have flight tickets back home for the 17th of June but will ask the flight company if they can reschedule if I haven't got the AP yet, as I've heard there's an absolute NO NO to leave the country before I get my AP.

I've heard that it can take up to 100 days. Is that absolute maximum or can it take 200 days? Cause then I'll cry like a baby.

I hope I get it in the beginning of June, please hold your thumbs for me! ;)

I got mine Day 101 (see my timeline below) and that was with an RFE. You should be okay, but it's always a little iffy scheduling flights before having a card in hand. There's no guarantee, but I suspect it will arrive before your flight.

I would be really careful though, they may decide to schedule your interview right about then. Make sure there is someone still home checking your mail.

Day 0 - 2 May 2012 Mailed AOS package overnight delivery
Day 139 - 17 September 2012 Interview & APPROVED on the Spot!! :)
Day 145 - 23 September 2012 Received Green Card!

ROC - Eligible June 19 2014

Day 0 - 18 June 2014 Mailed ROC package via 2 day priority

Day 42 - 29 July 2014 Approval and Card Production Email

Day 49 - 5 August 2014 Received Green Card

Interesting... I was assuming the interview wouldn't be scheduled in less than 6 months, haha! Hubby is gonna stay in the US though so I guess he can keep track of the post.

If worse came to worse, can you reschedule an interview?

Yes, interviews can be rescheduled.

Although, sometimes they deny you because USCIS offices don't communicate well with each other, then you need to petition to reopen the case, etc. Here's a recent example: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/418702-advice-wanted-i130-i485-denied-uscis-error/

Point being, consider carefully whether or not you want to try to reschedule. Sometimes it's a lot of trouble.

Good luck ;)

Just make sure if you leave the country with AP that you never overstayed your visa. I think ( please someone correct me if I am wrong ) with AP you are not guaranteed entry in the US if you have a previous ban ( that can be triggered even by 1 day overstay ) .

You can see my timeline on my signature to get an idea of waiting times.

Also make sure you are in the country for the interview. One should avoid rescheduling Greencard interviews .

Nope, they probably won't let you back in and they may take your visa but there is no ban period for an overstay less than 6 months, as far as I am aware. Of course if you find information to the contrary I am happy to be wrong. As far as I know an overstay of 6months to a year is a 3 year ban and 1 year + is 10 years.
