Hi Guys,

I posted few days back about my concern on an AED/AP but that was resolved. thank you people.

So, since I received my AED/AP card combo on 3/22/2012, I applied for the SSN today.

the guy who was there to receive my application was not really very nice although he

was not really bad, after putting my info and photocopying my marriage cert, passport,

and combo card, he got back to me saying he cannot proceed with my application

because the DHS does not confirm/verify my document or alien status.

I was with my husband and my husband asked if we need to give him a call as soon

as we get something back from the uscis, and he said NO.

well we went out feeling disappointed, we need the ssn for state ID/ driver.

any advice? tnx

you not apply in visa name, right ?

It happened to me too. The problem was the info in DHS system is not updated. We have to wait for 3 weeks before I got the SSN card in the mail.

Give it another two or three weeks and go back to the SS office. Their data base should have been updated by then and you should be able to get your application accepted.

Did you call USCIS hotline at all? thanks

Why waste your time waiting on hold only to be told something that either does not make any sense, is completely wrong, or you must wait 60 days before calling back. The HOTLINE is a total waste of your time. I agree with the others and wait a couple of weeks and go back to the SSA office. If they have problems then you can 1) apply in maidne name first and then change it or 2) have them look your wife up using the A# rather than the name as the name may have been mistyped. I would ask for a supervisor if the person helping you cannot find you as you have your updated DHS immigrant status in the form of the EAD/AP card and it is their computer system that is hosed. Look on the bright side: After getting this resolved, you do not have to really deal with them until you go for retirement benefits at age 62  .

Good luck,

Dave

DHS lookups at the SSA office are done INTO the SAVE database system.

USCIS doesn't muck about with SAVE database records at the National Call Center OR the local offices.

After EAD card is issued, there's nothing to do but wait on DHS.

If this was still in the I-94 period and was a problem, I'd recommend getting into a CBP office and fixing things there, but

since it's not in that time range, ya gotta wait a bit.

Call SSA office a week after you applied for your SSN, ask them if it's already confirmed and if it did you can go ahead to DMV and apply for a license, state ID or a permit without the SS card.. That's what I did!

Goddluck!

Unfortunately, you can't do much except wait until the Customs and Burro Patrol (CBP) updates their SAVE database. The information is inputed by a slovenly company under contract to the CBP.

It took them six weeks to input my wife's information last year. If you think that USCIS is not consumer-friendly, get ready to experience the abysmal consumer relations of the CBP. Their response to my inquiries about the my wife's situation was basically "show the requesting agencies your passport with the attached I-94 and all will be okay." What a worthless BS red-tape statement, we had already showed the requesting agencies those very documents, only to be rebuffed with a "we need to see the SAVE database update." I got one of our US Senators involved to no avail. Time was the only remedy.

Good luck.
