I believe it was in the movie Bowling for Columbine. Charlton Heston was very old at the time, and from the interview in the movie you could tell he was not all there. I think they called it an ambush-interview. Heston announced in 2002 he had Alzheimer's. It's pretty sad really taking advantage of someone like that. Not only the interview, but then putting it in the movie.

Who better to hire to be the NRA President than someone who is "not all there" yet enormously famous and liked by most Americans? Nice move for the NRA I would say. ;-)

Did he have Alzheimer's when they sent him to Colorado to give speeches after all those kids were shot down? Just curious, mind you.

Pretty sure he was president of the NRA for five years, and once he announced he had Alzheimer's, he retired.

As for the NRA meeting in Colorado right after Columbine... I can't even begin to imagine the reasoning behind that one.

Well I thought since you were so obviously an expert on the subject you could set me straight about the facts. :luv: Sorry for being lazy but I find gunnuts and their ilk to be tiresome people.

Problem solved.

Everybody happy.

 I didn't say he would like to come back, but yes it'd be cool if he was here. I don't get why so many people who are for the 2nd amendment are against the 1st.

Because they're hypocrites.

If you support the 2nd amendment, you're golden. If you want some kind of gun control but DON'T want to take everyone's guns away ... then suddenly you're a fascist who shouldn't be in this country anyway.

Some apparently live in a world where only their opinion is valuable and should be voiced.

Because owning a gun or an assault rifle is way more important than the folks who lose their lives to said weapons.

Different priorities. I personally do not care if someone owns a gun to protect themselves/their homes. As long as they can pass extensive, regular background checks in order to obtain and keep them. I wasn't aware you needed an entire stockpile of weapons to do that, but what do I know. I'm a fascist.

Because its not all about protection. Its not even about the core 2nd amendment meaning for me, though I respect it.

I think many owners buy firearms just like people buy for any other sport and many people's "stockpiles" are neither good for protection - they are history.

If you have a basement full of antique rifles and hand guns, there is no problem there. You want to have a collection because they fascinate you, have at it. I think you should be able to own weapons for protection or anything else as long as you pass the checks and pratice gun saftey measures like most of the folks on this site have said before. I know when retire I will definitely have a hand gun in the house if I live off base.

Yes. I was using defense as an example as to why someone would own them. I didn't mean to imply that that's the only reason for owning them.

Of course, as Run would say you got it:) I was just piggy backing on what you and Usui was saying.
