A day after Jim Carrey released a comic music video on Funny or Die mocking opponents of gun control, supporters of the right to bear arms have created a petition demanding Jim Carrey be deported back to Canada. The video Cold Dead Hand, which is a parody of a Hee Haw show, went instantly viral, thanks in part to Carrey’s impersonation of gun advocate Charlton Heston and a catchy tune that compared guns to ####### substitutes. Carrey continued the attack on his Twitter account, leading to lively debate online.

The petition, which can be found on change.org, states:

Canadian Citizen and Comedian Actor Jim Carrey is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Jim Carrey be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national known Comedian & Actor to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.

The organizers of the petition make it clear they don’t have anything against Canada – it’s Carrey they don’t like and they want him gone.

So far the petition has only a few thousand signatures – well short of the million-plus views the video had in its first day online.

A Fox News host also had a few comments about the video.

For the second day in a row, “The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld ranted against actor Jim Carrey for making a Web video that mocked the late Charlton Heston’s 2000 proclamation that he’d give up his gun “when you take it from my cold, dead hands.”

Gutfeld used the show’s opening monologue on Tuesday to explain precisely why be believes Carrey is a “tool” with small genitals. (

“I don’t expect depth from a roiling bucket of sewage,” Gutfeld said. ”Now, gun rights were never a core issue for me, but Carrey and tools like him made it one. This is Hollywood with its slip showing. Carrey’s video shows what they really think of fly-over America. They hate you. To them, you’re all white rednecks. Worse, he mocks a dead and decent man. Dude, I get you are a clown, but at least hit someone who can hit back, you simpering tool.”

I agree with most of the posters comments. It's funny when someone says or does something truly vile and disgusting, they just apologize about it and keep it moving. A funny video about gun control and you can get deported.

Charlton Heston was more than just a president of the NRA. He supported civil rights, when alot of other folks didn't. He marched with Martin Luther King in 1963. He supported JFK, LBJ, RFK. One of his quotes when asked why he left the Democrat party: "I didn't change. The Democratic party changed."

I thought what that fat pr!ck Michael Moore did to an old guy with failing health and mental capacity to make a few bucks in the movie business was pretty shameful.

Disclaimer, I've never seen one of his movies and knew little about the guy until he became president of the NRA.

What did Michael Moore do to him?

I believe it was in the movie Bowling for Columbine. Charlton Heston was very old at the time, and from the interview in the movie you could tell he was not all there. I think they called it an ambush-interview. Heston announced in 2002 he had Alzheimer's. It's pretty sad really taking advantage of someone like that. Not only the interview, but then putting it in the movie.
