I am teasing you about your insurgents only killing 'when they have to' comment. I am sure that it is not too hard to find Afghans who will say 'Yankee go home' even if it is not in their own best interest. Many are very concerned about what will happen when we do leave and rightly so.

When have I made any such comment claiming that Afghan "insurgents" only kill "when they have to" ? Quote, please.

See your first post in this thread. Perhaps you misspoke?

they're terrified of the militants, too.

but the militants don't kill them (unless they have to).

i am sure you know this, but there are many "foreigners" in the ranks of the militants too.

afghanistan would do well to eject not only all americans and westerners, but also all arabs.

You called them militants but that would be the insurgents, by another name.

You are very, very confused. Arijit is the person you are quoting, not me.

You are correct. My bad! Not sure how Arijit could say that either but I most definitely scrambled who said that!

No worries.

I think he was being sarcastic.

I think he was being sarcastic.

I think A.J. looks at many issues in the Middle East and Southern Asia from the perspective of someone fro India, and India's particular mix of Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims, combined with the aftereffects of British colonialism and the current tensions with India's neighbors. From that perspective, anyone not native to a particular village or town, is a potential antagonist, or victim, depending on who they are and how well they are armed.

Definitely.

Actually, he might not have been trying to be sarcastic. Sometimes it's hard to tell with him.

The Taliban just killed a principal in a Karachi school. They have taken over a Karachi neighborhood.

The Patriot is right. I do have the POV he ascribes to me. I grew up listening to stories from my grandfather about Karachi. I have lots of personal friends from Karachi. It's a good city full of good people and Arab money is destroying it.

The Taliban wouldn't be this powerful were it not for oil money.

There is undoubtedly support coming to the Taliban from certain donors in the Gulf who are flush with oil money. But there are also many Arab countries that aren't in the Gulf, don't have oil money, and don't support the Taliban - they'd be too poor to do it even if they wanted to. So the "eject all arabs" thing seemed beyond resenting just oil money flowing to the Taliban, but something rather more...

Anyway, according to this article, the Taliban gets some Gulf oil money, some money from opium production, and also co-opts a huge chunk of US foreign aid money:
