Good points. The program is rife with massive fraud and abuse.. If anyone was exposed to many of it's users like I am they would know why it is such a waste of taxpayer money overall.

Let's be honest, these things aren't really rational concerns, they're just excuses to help people pretend that they care about helping people, but prevents them from actually doing so. "I would love to give the poor money, but they'd only use it on drugs or alcohol, so I won't ". Excuse not reason.

Why not have stores carry the staples and folks could come in for their ration.

which stores? if you start including the small mom n pop joints, the bodegas, for example, then you're back at your fraud problem.

you really need strong control at the point of distribution. how do you think you do that?

Make beans, flour, butter, cheese, corn meal, grits, and basic protien choices etc etc available to anyone that qualifies. Stop all and any ability to use a card at most places. Limit food staples to the most basic needs. You go and get grocery staples.

Encouraging healthy food would be a positive move, although of course your list would be greatly expanded. Most people are not going to bake their own bread, even if they do have an oven.

But aren't there ways to use carrots instead of sticks ? Carrots are much healthier.

So how do they get to the store now.??

So all these millions that don't have the ability to heat food. what are they currently eating now ? Drive Thru---?? But then how would they drive to the drive thru ???

um, you were talking about limiting access to food. if there are fewer stores that offer benefits, it will be more difficult for some to get to these limited points of access. rural america uses foodstamps too.

look, you think you 'know' people on foodstamps. you apply this knowledge of what you think you know - to the whole of america. i've known people who have had to 'live' in hotels, with their children. they had access to a microwave - but nothing else.

personally, i don't really care if people who do not have children receive foodstamps with the choice of what to purchase. i do care when it comes to kids.

Let's be honest; smearing everyone who is concerned about fraud as somehow lacking any human compassion is, well... I guess you could call it fraudulent.

In case you are interested in reading what I actually have to say, rather than what you would prefer to imagine that I'm saying:

I think every penny that can be saved from fraudsters should go right back into the pool of money set aside to help those who need it - then we can help even more of the needy.

also, i think that the state should aggressively pursue non custodial parents who have extreme child support arrears on their children who require the food stamp benefit. if you're not paying a penny for the well being of your kids and the state and a single parent have to struggle to provide food for them - your *ss should be in a strict work release program.

Give the poor seeds, fertilizer, and a bus ticket out of the big cities. The cost of living is lower in rural areas, and things tend to expand horizontally, rather that vertically. You can built a trailer park collective almost anywhere. It is not like they were planning on working anyways, so let them get used to the idea of feeding themselves.

i personally do not have a child support agreement with my ex.

i have never (knock on wood) had to go on any sort of benefit.

anyway he can't take care of himself and i'm pretty sure he's on foodstamps. all while living in his parent's home. that's just sad. i don't want his money. i don't need it.

and i luv men! so there!

no, why would you think that? god's will is nothing to kid around about.

You're absolutely right.. God's will is nothing to kid around about.. Including the responsibilities that are clearly spelled out from gods word regarding man as he "goes forth to propagate". People (men) that have no intention to be responsible for their actions including and especially regarding as you say "spewing their penes seed" should be made sterile. Any man that does not take responsiblity for his own actions is not a man. Just a male of the species and should be treated as such.

I actually think this is a good idea. You have no idea how much we save by growing our own and getting the overage from our neighbors.
