Can my US citizen girlfriend increase the likelihood of me getting a tourist visa?

Wondering if my US citizen girlfriend can help me increase the likelihood of me getting a tourist visa so we can be in the US together for a few months before we get married. A Fiance visa we think is too short to decide on and we'd like to have atleast 3 months to try the waters out if it works.

We've been together since 2008 but haven't seen each other since June 2010.

In all likelihood that would decrease the chances because they'd be afraid you'd use that tourist visa for immigration purposes, which is fraud.

No, a USC girlfriend will decrease the chances. A USC girlfriend is a 'tie' to the US. when getting a tourist visa, you want ties to your home country.

There is no visa to 'try the waters'

good luck

Although she could write an invitation letter, it is really based upon you and your Merritt's. If the interviewer does not think you have compelling ties to return home he will not approve you. So I would say no it does not help. Sorry if that is not the answer you were quite looking for;however, many people wanted to do something similar to what you are suggesting they just realize how extrodonarily unlikely it is to be approved. Myself included hence the K1. It does give you 3 months to get married and my fiancé has agreed to give it a year trial. If he comes here and hates it, then I will move back to dubai with him. Good luck.

If you do not care about the potential time delay and added cost of a tourist visa in addition to a potential K1 or in the even you are married outside the US a CR1 then go for it. A tourist visa denial will not negatively impact future petitions.

What country are you from?

Philippines. Currently working as a Marketing Consultant at 8usd/h for a firm in the UK. On top of that, I run a business that's Currently earning 2k usd/month (net); not very good IMO. What do you guys think? Should I just apply for the tourist Visa on my own merit?

Would the CR1 take too much time? We're aiming to get together mid 2014 and get married around September 2014 as well.

No harm in trying, you only have the fee at risk.

The CR-1 is a spousal visa, you need to be married BEFORE you file.

Why was she not eligible for the VWP?

there is no such thing as an invitation letter, a tourist visa is granted solely on the applicants own merits
