You're welcome, I was going to PM you but I thought this wouldn't get TOS banned.

Funny thing is if someone called my wife that, she wouldn't know what the hell they were talking about. I'd probably just laugh at whoever said it and walk away. I'm not a minority in this country as a whole, but I've lived in places where I was a minority, both in this country and outside of it. I'm not claiming to know what it's like to be black in the U.S. though. I will say this though, before I know someone personally at work, and they're a minority, sometimes my initial reaction is wondering if they got the job simply because they're a minority. Maybe that's racist. I don't know. Possibly an unintended consequence of affirmative action.

do those pedals go forward too?

no sir. you said 'You focus on the black guy, now why is that?' in the last line of a quoted response to me. you didn't mistake me for danno. you didn't ask me why i'm focused on you. you said 'You focus on the black guy, now why is that'. i told you why, because you're full of it. its always race baiting & poor me with you. you won't say it because you know its not true. i won't call you an albophobe, because its too easy. but, its true.

So you are saying I'm afraid of words that read forward and backwards? Ok, if you say so. When I have ever said poor little me? I have said about things I have lived through. You said I didn't know someone who went through that rough time, but I did. I have never complained about how bad I have had or will have it. I have said that because of how race is in america, I choose to be better than that. That's why I don't use the n word, or act a fool. But to each is own, you never did answer my question, if I am full of it, what does that say about those other people on here, wait, let me say who they are since you need me to say it. Where were you when Himher called the POTUS a racial slur that dealt with animals? Where were you when Danno was trying to argue that a white supremacist choice of no black nurses was an "acceptable choice" and Gary chiming in he was "pro-choice". What about when RHR was describing every person on welfare as a 5 baby daddy, 50$ nail getting woman. Or my personal one, when Gary called me into a thread that had nothing to do with minorities and swore it was. Or are you mad because there is a black man in here to counter balance the racial stuff that's thrown around in here?

Give me the positive connotation of the n word. Or the w word for hispanics, or the c word for asians. Tell me that you can say that word to one of them and explain that you mean it in a positive way. Go head, I'll wait here.

Perhaps you misunderstood me.

I pointed out two principles of language A. meaning of the word B. What the word will mean to those you speak it to.

The term redneck and N_gger are commonly used and even promoted in a familiarity sense, typically among their own group.

Those are just facts.

I can think of NO situation where I would think my use of the word would be less than an insult.... so with this common understanding in todays culture, for me to use it in conversation

with a Black person it would necessarily be a slur word... it could have no other context. So if I were to use it, it would be a purposeful slur.

BUt as mentioned, people among their own group do regularly use some of these terms....and they are not meant (nor received) as an insult on many of those occasions. And many times they use the word amongst themselves as a slur word too.

Blacks are notorious for this, in fact it is so common we have all heard countless examples of one black person calling another -N_gger with as much hate as any character in a Hollywood movie about Mississippi.

To complicate things a bit more, it is somewhat common for people in their teens or twenties to use ####### in mixed company and apparently if they are friends, no offense is intended or taken.

Langauge like culture is always a fluid medium.

To a certain extent, it is. Let me explain why. The biggest problem with AA is that everyone thinks you can just be a certain color and walk right in the door. A large majority of people have that thought process, but here's what you have to consider. How far would someone in a professional field make it if they weren't good at what they do? AA doesn't give you a pass on being qualified. I guess I see it as if you have two folks, one is white and qualified, and one is asian and qualified, and you have to make a quota, you pick the asian. Now does that make it right? No, but since hiring outside of race is such a problem here it was a solution they came with.

You can't wing it in a major university coming in off of AA, they drop out if they can't hack it. It might get you through the door, but you have to work you butt off to stay in the game or you will wash out. I feel sorry for anyone who was not admitted or hired for someone of a different race and that person didn't hack it.

no, i'm saying you fear white people, which has turned to mistrust & hatred towards them. i'm not a mod on this board, its not my job to police posts. if i'm here & i see it, i'll call it. i'm not shy. you might want to quit naming people not in this discussion. its bad etiquette and a TOS violation. see there you go again. insinuating someone is a racist, because they don't agree with what you say. its really cowardly, you should stop.

You raise a point I have heard others mention.

Black students are done a disservice by admitting unqualified candidates into upper level schools because the drop out rate is pretty high.

HAd this same Black (fairly bright) student gone to a more suitable school he would have a degree and be on his way in life.... but instead he feels like a failure because he couldn't do what most people can't.

You know what Danno, when you talk like this I can relate with you. I'll try to rephrase this in a different way:

I can see if someone were to say redneck, like a foreigner trying to degrade a white person, I see you point. Because even through I work in a government building, we have GS-13's that are proud to be called rednecks. So it would be more understandable if the context is included. This weekend we were watching Blue Collar comedy and my wife didn't know what a redneck was. I had to explain to her what I thought it meant, plus as a bonus I had to explain to her about "here's your sign". Now I have to watch what I say cause she is trying hard to catch me

Wait a second, didn't you just call me out on not saying it like a couple of post before? And saying I fear white people? My sons are half white. So get your facts straight, and you must not be paying too much attention since there has been plenty of race baiting on here and folks have called it out before I even got in the thread.

Yep, there was a study about this. And I agree, I think you should only get admitted if you can make the grade. Your race shouldn't be a factor in it, your qualification should be.

Here is a pic of my sons and their mother. I spent 10 years married to her. I don't fear any race, nor do I have any hatred against any of them. But if you constantly want to bring my people up in a bad light, and if we can talk about like adults and be cordial I have no problem with it.

yes i did. and you did it again. say it. thats what albophobic means marvin. 'my sons are 1/2 white' file that in same place trash can as 'i got black friends'. i'm paying attention to you remember.. 'You focus on the black guy, now why is that?'..its probably because he has a chip on his shoulder & i feel like it.

Not even close, those who are fear a race don't marry into it. And you're not paying attention, because if you were you'd see all the post where I ask what context is being used when someone is talking about race, or how I try to use reason and logic. No, you pick and choose, like you did in that gun thread awhile ago? You remember? When you said I was about taking the guns away, and all I have ever said was we need better control so less lives are taken.

Nice photo and all that but what is the point?

It is quite common for people with animosity towards other races to be turned on by their women.

So I don't see where thast is meaningful one way or the other.
