Getting Marry to a Girl in L-1 visa

Hello Vjs’……

Here is the situation:

My best friend (US citizen, 25 years old) falls in love (as he described) with a Girl (co-worker) who is on L-1 visa. I also know the girl as a co-worker but do not her inside and out. I believe her visa will be expiring within next 3 months. They are in relation for JUST 7 /8 months. In such a situation, at least for me, that time period is not enough to make such an important and big decision. As being a best friend, I already warned him his responsibilities and consequences if the marries does not go well in a long run and asked him to find out the real motive of the “GIRL” and then make a right decision. I am reluctant to support his decision of Marriage at this time because the girl came with the idea. It might be just my crook mind :P :P but I told him what I felt.

We had almost an hour discussion last night and he still wanted to get married. He was aware that I just completed the paper works for my wife. So, he wanted to know the process to get married and file the paper work to get her the “GREEN CARD”. I know the process which he has to go through is little bit different than what I went through, I gave him a general idea how the immigration system works.

Now, I am here to know the exact process how the whole process works for “Getting married with the Girl in L-1 visa and file required documents to get LPR.”

I am wishing that they both truly love each other and will have happy married life….. (F) (F) (F)

Moved from spousal visa to adjustment of status from work student tourist as the OP is looking for information on adjustment of status not a spousal visa.

I already mentioned him about visa journey......but for another week and half he is really busy at his college and meantime I am trying to get more information about the process

Do you want me to paste and copy what's in the link ? Or retype it ? Key suggestion (btw - I adjusted from L-1) is to go read the guide and do what's described there. That's all there is needed to adjust from L-1.

The guide is really all you/ he needs. L1 visa allows for getting married and staying, so there is no issue, and they have known eachother fora while so adjusting status should be easy.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Initially, Whatever I knew about the process, I described with my friend. But whatever he got from his “GIRL FRIEND" (She claimed that she had 2 appointments with LAWER) was totally different. That why I gave emphasis on “EXACT Process". I am not sure she is also following the VJ or not. I also went through "kzielu" link before Penguine_ie post. Meantime, I was in touch with couple of others in private chat (in the VJ forum) where I discussed his “PERSONAL" situation and they were really helpful.

I could be clearer about his situation on the post but that's his decision how far he wanted to be OPEN in public forum. I already suggested him what I knew and got from VJ's members, now it’s up to him which way he will go....
