My wife and I (USC) applied for I-130 for her. It was approved quickly. Then, we filed for AoS.

We received our AoS interview early last year (so it's been over a year). The online status simply has only indicated the date for the first interview since (still says that today). The interview went fine. The interviewer basically just said, "uh, you guys are obviously married and I-130 was already approved so there is really nothing for me to ask about your marriage." We just talked briefly about what I do for a living and her travels over the years (she traveled a lot prior to our marriage, much of which we traveled together but she did a bit more than me). That was it. We had not heard a word since.

We got a notice for a second interview last week. For the life of me, we don't know why.

We have been married for about 2 years but have been together for close to 3 decades (yes, we met when we were really young, we were kids). We have evidences of real marriage, including pictures, travel records, and so forth going back close to three decades. They have all that in I-130. I recall the interviewer during the first AoS interview just kind of rolled his eyes and sort of said "duh."

I can't imagine they would need to do so called stokes interview (the evidence of real marriage that can be documented is truly overwhelming given how long we have been together romantically even before the marriage).

Does any one have any ideas why they would ask us to come back for another interview? I searched high and low, and read up on everything I can find. Nothing seems to apply to our case.

The notice also says "This Interview may be taped and included in your service records." I am not worried about video taped interview as the evidences of a real marriage are overwhelming given the number of years we have been together. From what I have read though, that's standard language in the second interview notice.

Does anyone have suggestions as to the possible reasons for the second interview?

**** Moving from AOS from Family Visa to AOS from Work/ Tourist/ Student etc visa ***

Purely speculation as we do not know your case details, but I can see two potential reasons for the delay; either they think your wife miss-used a non-immigrant visa to immigrate, or there is something in one of your backgrounds that is dodgy.

- What visa did your wife come to the US on? Did they ask you anything when she entered? Since you've been together so long, why did she suddenly decide to AOS?

- Are there any issues in either of your backgrounds, such as criminal convictions, having worked in a security sensitive profession etc?

Question, how many times did you infopass in the last year? It seems to me they just delayed because they can; however, you also have something on your side, approved I-130, so did you ask them why you have to wait so long for a decision on the I-485? I think it merits an infopass now. I also think the letter is just standard. My husband and I also got called for a second interview nearly 9 months after the first one, but my case is more complicated having been married 2x before. Our letter didnt mention anything about being videotaped and surprisingly, we were not. I think they are just calling you back to make sure nothings changed, but of course be prepared to answer detailed questions like color of toothbrush etc you never know.

I had a second interview following the Dallas office screwing my AoS case up and sending it off for a jaunt around the United States so it could see the country a bit.

The second interview letter (which came directly from the local office instead of the NBC) did say at the top that this interview would be recorded, but it was not.

What country is the beneficiary from?
