So If I die my wife who I have been married to for less than 2 years, gets my estate tax free.. If we had both been women, and lived in a monogamous loving relationship for 20 years, she does not. is that fair

Hold on there, sparky. she might get it. Depends on what her actual uscitizenship status is, and the laws in your state governing estate disbursements to legal permanent resident survivors.

If you live in a state without 'those' issues, yer stellar. Otherwise? She might be in for some rude awakening after you die. Unless, of course, you have done some other, prior, stellar work in setting up the estate to forego the current state law about this stuff.

As to yer second point about a SS couple, after 20 years of marriage - I say no, the surviving 'spouse' shouldn't get anything. But that's just my opinion, and I'm sticking to it.

This reminds me of visiting an elderly lady in a rest home, understanding her limited capacity really dwarfed the type of conversations we could have.

The nations will pretty much be extinct... not the country.

Homosexual couples are just as capable of providing a loving, stable home for children as heterosexual couples are. Sorry to burst your bubble with some reality, but sexual preference does not define a person or define how well they would raise a child.
