Most people learn about marriage and parenting through observation at home.

Apparently it's being taught to young children at school. Who knew?

IF marriage were only about wedding photos and the warm feelings people have for each other.... you'd be right.

But the truth is, Marriage is the only institution which ties children to the two people who created them.

Marriage (which typically produce) children, is the foundation of society.... we tinker with it at our own peril.

Gays are just 3 or 4% of society.... the risk is huge for satisfying such a minuscule number of people.

So If I die my wife who I have been married to for less than 2 years, gets my estate tax free.. If we had both been women, and lived in a monogamous loving relationship for 20 years, she does not. is that fair

Civilized countries are actually making the change faster than the US is.

Agreed ! and Canada has already made the change, there's a decade or so of 'stuff' done already.

There's government support there, and institutionalized support there also.

USA doesn't have that, at the moment. Sure, in small pockets, but even those pockets are constantly challenged.

It really does make more sense for SS couples to migrate to Canada..

Surely they'd go where they'd be welcome, and have government support for their lifestyle ?? Bonus points all the way round.

If USA incentivized the move, then the exodus could occur in this decade.

I don't believe in churches being forced to perform gay marriages.

Nor do I believe businesses should be punished for enforcing their beliefs - just don't be surprise if it loses you business.

I, personally, learned nothing about marriage in school. What classes did I miss in the "early grades" that went into details about married life? I learned that from my parents.

No church is being forced to perform any marriage. Ask a catholic priest if he will marry a divorced couple.

The opposite is also true. Many churches already celebrate same-sex marriage and marry divorced individuals.

That will not change.

I'm sure it is, somewhere. It's a big world out there and clearly Danno comes from a part of it that is completely unfamiliar to me.

Great argument. To me, this is about fairness and consistency. The ick factor is there when same sex couples and even opposite sex couples get a bit too overt with their displays... but think about your day to day life, all the places you go. Most places you see nothing icky at all and I can guarantee that there are homosexuals everywhere. I wouldn't hold the poor taste of some people against the group.

Among our peers in the developed world? A majority accepts that homosexuals exist and that they are humans that have a right to live in recognized, sanctioned relationships. The momentum for marriage equality is growing all across the developed world. It's a matter of not depriving homosexuals of one of the most fundamental rights a person has.

Ahh you're full of #######, and the Euro-centrist came out dressed as "developed world"

Look even in Europe huge numbers of people a pose it. 30 States in this country said heII no!

So if support is so weak even here you know what it means for the masses of the world.

Anyway dude you had better face reality and you can start by looking at the projections of what this world will even look like in 30-40 years.....your ideas and the people who support them are on the way out.

And who will take their place... people with the most harsh views on this issue.

They are having kids and your team isn't.

-When you redefine what a marriage is, you soon find "others" too want to be included.... and under all your logic, they have every right.

-Allowing Interracial marriage did not "redefine" marriage it simply modified the regulations governing it... in the same way if a state were to change the age limit.

- I have asked you before and I will again, show me in history the societies which placed gay relationships on the same level as normal one? Where are these great societies that we can learn from them?

Society does not have to make them equal. Only the Law.

Show me the part of the Constitution that gives the federal government the authority to "incentivize" the emigration of Americans.

This is basically the argument right there. As a society, you don't have to agree with gay people getting married. However, to deny the homosexual couples these basic rights and benefits is wrong.
