Uganda would work well for the homophobes. Like minded people there, I hear.

The man clearly suffers from a Euro-centrist view.

One need not single out Uganda, speculate for me if you would-

What percentage of people in the world see Homosexuality as a healthy, normal thing?

We are speaking of marriage equality in the United States. We can't make laws for the whole world.

In addition, what you propose is akin to asking how many people consider alcoholism or homophobia as a normal thing and further expanding into whether these should be allowed to marry.

Civilized countries are actually making the change faster than the US is.

11 countries currently allow same sex marriage, while plenty others are moving in that direction quite quickly.

Homophobes tend to try and take comfort in the fact that there are other people like them. And there are. But in countries comparable to the US, they are becoming the minority.

Even if we concede that homosexuality is deviant and gross and weird and a sickness -

How many other weird lifestyles and sick behaviors disqualify people from being able to get married?

Do you mean to tell me that same sex marriage is legal in 11 countries and the world has not come to an end as the result of the destruction of the foundation of society!?!?!?!?

Shirley, you jest!

As of March 2013, eleven countries (Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, Sweden), and several sub-national jurisdictions (parts of Brazil, Mexico, and the United States), allow same-sex couples to marry.

Bills allowing legal recognition of same-sex marriage have been proposed, are pending, or have passed at least one legislative house in Andorra, Colombia, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Nepal, New Zealand, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay as well as in the legislatures of several sub-national jurisdictions (in Scotland as well as parts of Australia, Mexico, and the United States).

Danno will tell you that it just hasn't been long enough. Just you wait! The social crumbling is coming. Any day now.

The funny thing is, out of the countries that allow it, many of them are also on the list of the top 10 countries to be born in. US, unfortunately, didn't crack the list.

Fascinating!

However, at the rate of 50%, I would think divorce has a winning head start on the destruction of the world as we know, over 'the gheys'!!

TO that I would say, Western society has always recognized marriage (and divorce) to be about children.

And thats exactly why we have laws against such things by their parents where they might impact or be harmful to children.

THis is also why these "sister wives" unions, though they are not even legal are often pursued.... even in this day and time.

It is exactly why the State of Nevada (Mormons) had to abandon that practice.

I think you confuse assigning importance to children and their welfare with making children the reason marriage exists.

If marriage is about children, we should stop allowing marriage for the infertile couples or the couples who have no interest in children.

Homosexual couples are just as capable of providing a loving, stable home for children as heterosexual couples are. Sorry to burst your bubble with some reality, but sexual preference does not define a person or define how well they would raise a child.

It's 2013, Danno. Deal with the fact that your country is changing.

And you would be wrong, yet once again. Marriage has always been about property.

Divorce is the antithesis of marriage, so it really can't be about anything else but the destruction of the very foundation of society. At a rate of 50% they are doing a much better job at it then 'the gheys'....

Text books about same sex couples and homosexuality will be taught in schools poor kids will be confused.

Same thing was said about interracial couples. Won't someone think of the children?!

Here's something about kids. They don't think homosexual couples are confusing or gross until someone teaches them that they are. The same way kids don't see anything wrong with being a different skin color until someone tells them.

Kids do not come out of the womb hating people or judging them. They are, unfortunately, taught it by their parents.
